ficar/permanecer parado e ficar/estar parado

I suppose that would be the difference, although they are pretty often interchangeable.
You can say to someone "Stay still!" or "Be still!" meaning "Fique parado" in port.
Ficar can be used for "stay" (as in remain - permanecer) or for "be" (as in become).
Not sure if I 've explained that very well. Hope it helps!
