português term

aguardando prazo

português para inglês Direito/Patentes Direito (geral) Phases or events in a hearing
I'm translating a report on a court case. I'm doing fine with all of it except the attachment: a timeline of events. There are six terms I can't properly document. This is one of them.

Am I right in thinking this means "awaiting date" (i.e., awaiting assignment of a the next hearing date)?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry PERIOD not PERIO
Peer comment(s):

agree Gilmar Fernandes : Yes, the judge may have established a period of say 30 days for one of the parties to submit evidence of whatever the case involves.
1 hora
Tks
agree Edward Nelson : I agree, because in Portuguese the gerund (aguardando) is verb form - that is what I infer without further context.

waiting period

I’d definitely go with ‘waiting period’ (note: not ‘awaiting’). A couple of links:

“Motion to Waive 90-day Waiting Period and Declaration”

4 dias

await hearing/trial

The hearing or trial date may be set at the convenience of the court or in accordance with a legally stipulated waiting period (such as in the case of divorce).
