In the meeting, Stalin said something extraordinary. Words which remained secret until the 1990’s when detailed notes of this meeting were discovered. Stalin’s statement that the Soviet Union would not stand by and let Germany be defeated went way beyond anything that the Soviets later admitted had been said at these meetings.
