We can state most of the essential facts about the Up-Pointed Wedge Formation in a few short sentences. It can develop either as a sort of Topping-Out Pattern on a previously existing uptrend, or start to form right at the Bottom of a preceding downtrend. It (the Wedge) normally takes more than 3 weeks to complete; a shorter pattern of this shape is nearly always better classified as a Pennant, which we will discuss in the next chapter.
