Hello,
Can anybody advice me what the best way to translate text boxes....with Wordfast I have to put the curso in every text box...too time consuming..
I have 20 docs with text boxes, most of them with only 1 word....
Thanks for your help...
Natália
P.S.Does it work with SDLX, DejaVu or any other CAT Tool????

No problem with DéjàVu (or SDLX) May 27, 2004

Given the interface of DéjàVu and SDLX (you work in a table with two columns--source and target--and the text is imported into the rows of this table), it makes no difference to these programs whether or not your text is enclosed in text boxes. Since the Trados interface is similar to Wordfast, I suspect you'd have the same problem there too -- but I don't know.

This is what I did May 27, 2004

Recently, I had to translate a manual with quite a number of text boxes. I used the following tip I picked up on some mailing list (I believe it was the Yahoo TW_users list).

I extracted the text boxes to a new document and translated the doc with Trados. After translation, I used the Translate function on the original document, after which the text boxes were filled with the translation. This worked quite well for me.

I assume this will also work with other translation

I assume this will also work with other translation tools.

Good luck!

Natália,

It works perfectly with SDLX (not only for Word but for Power Point too) - you need only to adapt after the translation the format in the translation document - the target text is most longer.

Geneviève:)
