Hi all,

I am using Studio 2011 SP2 and segmentation is suddenly not segmenting where it should. My TM segmentation rules are default sentence based segmentation.

Hi all,

I am using Studio 2011 SP2 and segmentation is suddenly not segmenting where it should. My TM segmentation rules are default sentence based segmentation.

As you can see, segmentation is not applied after colons or certain full stops. I am only working with one TM placed at the top of the list and I've added no abbreviations to the list in Language Resources.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Rich

I don't think that Studio segments by default colons or periods that are followed by a lowercase letter.
In your example I can only see periods followed by a), b), c) etc.

Still, if Paul's having a look, no doubt he'll give you a better answer.

Emma

Well spotted Emma Aug 3, 2012

Thanks a lot Emma, I had no idea that was the case.
Thanks to you too Paul for offering to help as always.

I thought I'd add that it's very simple to have Studio segment before lowercase letters if anyone needs to do this. I know I will in certain cases, especially with Mexican Spanish notarial documents, e.g. listing powers of attorney where some use uppercase and others lowercase but where the text is extremely repetitive so changing this will be very useful for TM leverage.

Tools - Options - Language Pairs - All Language Pairs - Translation Memory and Automated Translation (place and select your TM at the top of the list) - Settings - Language Resources - Segmentation Rules - Edit - Edit - (in Exceptions select Lower-case letter exception) - Remove

DONE!

Cheers!
