Sorry, but we use to say here that sometimes you feel like you're going to give birth a child when you undertake this kind of large projects.
With large documents, I usually translate some pages, then I may get tired and go to the last page and begin translating from that page upwards...then I meet the mid-point where I left before and it seems to me that the document turns shorter...I don't know why...
I fall into my own trap...

I find a lot of fun in interpretation. I love to impress and rule the crowd, make them relax and catch deep breath or have a good laugh while working on very serious subjects and show-off:-) whenever I can, but no longer in translation - conventionally speaking, it's just another checkmark against the bill to pay. Plus, I no longer accept 10K words for yesterday... maybe only to save someone who'd once saved me, but for no other reason and very seldom, not often enough to accumulate frustration.... Known subjects, reasonable deadlines unless I screw up myself, which I try to avoid as much as I can - no reason for emotions, really. I guess I'm getting old...:-( ▲ Collapse

I choose this option, because I always have those emotion combinations after delivering such big projects :
relief - phew, finally...
worry - would they be satisfied with my job?
happiness - imaging the money I'll receive

This week it's oh, help, I'd hoped to do it faster, and now I'm behind schedule with the next job...
But basically satisfaction, because I know the client and I know I found some good expressions to disguise their eternal clichés.
It was a marketing text about designers and products, and let's face it, they're selling the same stuff they've sold for years. But if we don't all believe it's new and special this time, then we might just as well carry on using the things w... See more

Whenever I have finished a job, be it translation in the old days or interpreting or writing texts, I always feel low. While I am doing the job, I'm am absorbed in it and when it ends, I feel sort of hollow. Decompression time. Almost as though I've used up all my energy and there's none left.
The pattern is: new job = enthusiasm, at times panic at all that has to be done in such a short time. Knuckling under, organising? Doing...
