Vice versa?! Oct 10, 2010

Actually, freelancing can make a fast-moving one move even faster and, contrariwise, make a slow-moving one move ever slower

Since going freelance I've started developing a mucous membrane and a penchant for lettuce

It all depends on the freelancer, his/her character and what she/he wants in life and the affiliated goals, both life in general as well as one's professional life.

Good guys - are good, but bad ones - are sure bad

Question is how to keep your energetics HIGH working alone (without communications with companions, workfellows, co-workers)?

Opposite Oct 10, 2010

I retired from a full-time job in 1990. If I hadn't had freelance work and ProZ to keep me interested, I could be on the way to senile decay by now.

Sluggish? Oct 10, 2010

Sluggish? For the past ten years I held down a busy full-time job and translated in the evenings and on weekends. Now I am close to retiring but I will put extra effort into my translation business. I don' even know what sluggish means.

Each client is a "boss" you need to keep content. There's no time for sluggishness here.

As we say in Chile: "Al camarón que se duerme se lo lleva la corriente"

No Slugs Oct 11, 2010

We all have a boss who is totally unforgiving, a slave driver, who we can see every morning in the mirror. Those who don't will have already died of hunger.

And as we say on the border, "camarón que se duerme se lo lleva la chi... [colorful Mexican expletive deleted].

it can, in my case no Oct 11, 2010

Well at the beginning someone can think: Oh I'll do it later...
In my case NO, I have a strong self-discipline, and anyway being sluggish means starting a diet: no work, no money, no food

In general, being a freelancer for me means having also a lot of things to do that I require effort because work is task No 1, I sometimes wake up at 5 am to work, because I want to go to the gym at 9....and at the end of the d

On the contrary!! Oct 11, 2010

I don't think a sluggish freelancer can survive!

Freelance job means you need to find your clients, do the job and do it well so the client is happy and keeps you sending more jobs. And nobody will do this for you!

If you're sluggish, none of this can happen.

On the contrary, it teaches you discipline, patience and time-management!
