Justin Bieber, who at the start of his career did not know what or where Germany was, should now know where it is as he is a guest in the ZDF-studio. Justin does not know German.

So, he has been given an earplug and somewhere in the room there must be an interpreter.

This kind of interpreting is very common in Italy. It's not as you say though, the interpreter is not somewhere in the room they have a booth and there are actually two interpreters one translating into the language of the guest for the guest to understand and a second interpreter, preferably a man to trnaslate men and a woman to translate women, interpreting for the audience in the studio and at home in the national language (in this case German). It's not as you say though, the interpreter is not somewhere in the room they have a booth and there are actually two interpreters one translating into the language of the guest for the guest to understand and a second interpreter, preferably a man to trnaslate men and a woman to translate women, interpreting for the audience in the studio and at home in the national language (in this case German). I think they have a booth somewhereelse in the studio and watch the whole thing on monitors as it happens more and more often in conferences too.
