It was just a joke!

And think that a separate invoice is very important for the administration (with fullname + projectname + date).

Roberta tell you why is it better to protect it

A good day to you!

Different versions of word Jul 19, 2004

Hi,

the only thing I can think of is that your client is using a different version of Word and that, in this particular case, he simply cannot see anything although it is probably there. I've had this problem with one client, and it took us some time to realize this.

The only way to find out is to ask the client to email it back to you.

Hi ! Thank you all for the good support,
It seems that the outsourcer had infact recd. the translation as well, as part of his mail reflects this.
"Bandi:

I understand that your desperate. However your first response to my
email
makes no sense if I compare it to your later claims. I decided that I
will
pay you and after that I wish to do no further business with you.

In the future if you send your translations to agencies it would make an
awful lot of sense if you send your invoice and translation separately (as
you actually indicate in your first email).

Regards

Mr. xxx"

upon which my answer was
"Dear Mr. XXX
Thank you for the tip. I shall watch-over in the future and send the
invoice separately. I thought more like, well, since it was only a one
page translation, I might as well attach the invoice ( template ) to it,
without knowing the complexity. I am desperate to know, why is it that
you have recd. only the invoice aspect and not the translation itself,
which was on the second page. So I had to contact the Management,
wondering whether there is any functional disability of the securemail
as it is know with us at the Proz. The answer was negative. Well I had
to know the truth, you see. Now you are saying that you would pay for
the invoice recd. without translation attached to it, which infact not
right. I am an engineer and translator, Database,- webdesigner and also
a Teacher in adult education area, so I had to find the truth. Should
you need samples, I can delivery you a few thousand of them and all for
free, I have a huge archive ofém in sampling area. I thank you again for
the good adv.
Best Regards,
Bandi"
Now I don´t know whoever is unfair.

It is the client's mistake, not yours... Jul 19, 2004

Hello,

I have been using ProZ mail for a while, and it does send files correctly.

If you sent the invoice and the work in one file, if the file is corrupted, none will reach, so if the invoice did reach, so did the translation.

So one of two things have happened:

1. the client did not check the file properly... Just probably took it to be only the invoice, without checking the file.

2. the client has tried to cheat you.

Hello,

So one of two things have happened:

2. the client has tried to cheat you.

After that reaction you mention in the e-mail, I am inclined to think it was the second one. Otherwise, why would the client check and apologize for the oversight, although expressing some annoyance, while the text says "I decided that I will pay you and after that I wish to do no further business with you"... If that issue was solved (that is, you have clarified that you should send a separate invoice), then there would be no problem to continue your business relationship...

Good luck,

Mar

It's really hard to say if you don't know the other side of the story. The agency might have been confused by receiving only one file instead of two: "In the future if you send your translations to agencies it would make an awful lot of sense if you send your invoice and translation separately (as you actually indicate in your first email)."

What is the problem with sending invoice and translation in separate files? Jul 20, 2004

Perhaps a template and a word file have viewing problem. In fact sending them in one file would never have occured to me. Two separate files zipped together would be more like it. The client can unzip at his end after downloading the single zipped file in order to get two different files.

N.Raghavan

Hi! here is what the outsourcer saying now.
Quote
"Mr. Bandi:

And I am aware that I should check the entire file before blaming people
of
not sending me the projects on time. I apologize for the haste and
hastle. I
advised accounting to pay you. You should receive your payment in one or
two
days.

Have a good day.

sending invoices Jul 21, 2004

Roberta Anderson wrote:
I think what Toledo means is to password protect the invoice PDF file so as not to allow the contents to be altered in any way, while still allowing it to be opened and printed by the recepient.

This is what I normally do with my invoices too.

I print my invoces to a fax file with the .tiff extension so they can print it. It's as simple as printing locally. If the customer is in North America, I send them that file by e-mail and fax it as well.

Talking about printing, maybe you can tell the customer to press PRINT. That should print both pages. Don't give up!
