O juiz de fora repartiu os pastéis pelos meninos, e mandou guardar a salva, dizendo que receberia como escárnio um presente de doces, que valiam dez patações, sendo que naturalmente os pastéis tinham vindo como ornato da bandeja, E assim é que, ainda hoje, em Vila Real, quando se dá um caso análogo de ficar alguém com o conteúdo e continente, diz a gente da terra: "Aquele é como doutor Brocas."
