Today and tomorrow, the machine will not be set aside rather it is the machine itself that has changed. Robotics allow lasers or other precision-guided tools to carve out a block of stone for Renzo Piano’s Padre Pio Pilgrimage Church (San Giovanni Rotondo, Foggia, Italy, 1995–2003) unlike any other in the building for the same price as identical cubes. The full significance of this deep change will be brought home less by the current generation of established architects than by their younger, more computer-literate successors. Thus, Frank Gehry has indeed used sophisticated computer-assisted modeling and production to produce such sculptural buildings as his Guggenheim Bilbao (1991–1997), but the original conceptual work is more a question of traditional sketches and models than it is truly one of digital design.

I work as a freelancer for 20 years, mostly in the areas of architecture, urban planning, urban economy and education, since I worked for a long time with architects, the Faculty of Architecture of Oporto and the Faculty of Engineering.
Since 2003 I have a regular collaboration with Dar Al Handasah (Shair and Partners) one of the world’s leading consultancies. I translated Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, Landscaping and Environmental Specifications, Master Plans and other documents (English>Portuguese). This experience allowed for great expertise in these fields.
Experience also includes the translation of around five books a year, usually two on Architecture, and the remaining in several other subjects for a Portuguese publishing house. These will be added to the list below as they are published.
I also translated texts, interviews and lectures by several architects. Subjects covered architecture, urban planning, urban economy, both practical and theoretical, in the form of dissertations, scientific research, scientific papers, articles for catalogues, etc.
Other relevant fields of expertise include the translation of instruction manuals for machines, literature and art related subjects.
