In cases with weakening of the proximal ulnar cortex or periprosthetic fractures, the proximal portion of the ulna can be strengthened using allograft struts secured to the ulnar shaft using cerclage wires (see technique above for humeral strut allografts).
Allograft strut grafts can be used to:
Contain discrete areas of cortical defects
Support peri prosthetic fractures
Supplement a deficient olecranon to provide a site for triceps attachment
Supplement areas of cortical weakness treated with impaction grafting (see below)
