Pessoal estou traduzindo um birth certificate e tenho essas duas palavras que praticamente significam a mesma coisa. Gostaria de saber o que geralmente voces colocam como tradução para uma e para outra:

Township: cidade pequena, vila, municipio
Borough: cidade pequena, vila, municipio

TOWNSHIP/BOROUGH OK Nadja,I understand what u saying, as this is a form it is one or the other, I go along with Township meaning simpmply town , or perhaps even small town, otherwise they wud ask for "city" and borough is certainly "circunscriçao" or "munícipio " buat not "bairro"

I think yes because on the document it is mentioning both, one following by the other. That is why I asked this question. Although they seem to mean the same, they might have different translation in the document. The problem is that the document is like a form. And this form is not filled. So there is no other words or context for that.

Registro de Nascimento

O que é?

É o primeiro registro de um indivíduo, fundamental para que este seja reconhecido como cidadão. É necessário para qualquer outro registro ou para emissões de documentos de várias espécies. O registro de nascimento, bem como a primeira certidão, é gratuito (Lei Federal 9.534/1997).

Onde é feito?

Todos os nascimentos ocorridos em território nacional deverão ser levados a registro. O registro é feito pelo cartório Oficial de Registro Civil das Pessoas Naturais, da circunscrição de nascimento do “recém-nascido” ou de residência dos pais.
