Texto de origem - inglês As I stare out the dusty window across the angry Atlantic Ocean, I ponder what has brought me to this point where I am trapped in my home, fearing for the lives of my whole family. There comes a time in most people’s lives when one must decide if they should stay or if they should go. This could be in relation to: a relationship you are unhappy in, a job that is no longer satisfying, or a friendship that brings much pain. For me, this decision is about leaving my home, my country, and all I have known and loved for forty-six years.
Angola is at war. It has been since 1961 when the War of Independence from Portugal first started. Angola is an African coastal colony, the Atlantic Ocean to the west and The Democratic Republic of Congo to the east.

Bio
I have been a reading and language lover all my life, which is why I have started studying translation. Thus I would love to help others communicate and develop themselves through translation because I believe in the power of language.
I have been working with literary translation and technical translation for more than two years. During this period, I have learned that being a translator is much more than passing a text from one language to another. It means being faithful to the original text while thinking about the intended effect but also attending to the reader's expectation. Through translation, we can explore a world of possibilities, get immersed in different cultures, and constantly improve ourselves using language to its fullest. . More than anything, being a translator is being a bridge to knowledge.
