I have worked as a translator for over 15 years in a variety of literary and technical fields. My translation work ranges from EU policy texts through to tenders, annual reports and accounts, art criticism, film scripts, engineering datasheets, legal texts, mining, tourism, website localisation, equipment instruction manuals, educational material, and many more.

I am a native Portuguese speaker, fluent in English and French. My translations into English are always done with my partner, Bergen Peck, who is British and has been translating alongside me for nearly twelve years; this ensures a high level of quality in the final job.

In addition to my work as a translator, I worked in the theatre for twenty years, where my work ranged from acting to directing and producing. I founded and was artistic director of two professional theatre companies and also founded a drama school, the first of its kind in Northern Portugal. From 1994-95 I was artistic advisor to the National Theatre in Oporto, and I served on policy committees for the Portuguese Ministry of Culture and the European Commission (arts education). I have also worked as a consultant in the field of education, training and culture.
