Tradução - inglês WOLLER: I was a young child at the time, you see, but what I remember are those things that really made a mark on me, the ship journey, for instance, the vastness of the ocean, the rocking. These things, no matter how young you are, leave a mark.
GENI: I remember the journey in the ship. I was three years old and I remember when I arrived, I saw my father and my mother pointed him out to me. I said in Yiddisch: that fat man is not my father, because my father is handsome and thin…I didn’t know my father.
SAMUEL: I know my father was standing there, wearing one of the denim suits that people used to wear with an umbrella here, all tanned, because he had been in Brazil for two years already. He was clientelshtik (salesman), right, so he walked all day under the sun, in the rain. Then we boarded the
train, you had to take the train at that time to Curitiba. We arrived here February 14.

I was born in Brazil and moved to the United States as a teenager. My undergraduate degree is in Journalism, from Boston University. While in college, I did free-lance translations for Folha de São Paulo's then new website, uol.com.br. After college, I worked in the advertising industry managing multinational clients. I routinely translated multimedia campaigns from Portuguese to English. I have an MA in Arts Administration, and after my postgraduate studies I have worked in fundraising for several performing arts companies. I have done extensive work translating performance reviews, artist press kits, work descriptions and technical specifications. I currently work in fundraising for a community center. I am also a free-lance writer (English) and translator.
