Mary, did you know
That your Baby Boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
That your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
That your Baby Boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you've delivered
Would soon deliver you?

Mary, did you know
That your Baby Boy would give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know
That your Baby Boy would calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know
That your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little Baby
You've kissed the face of God?

The blind will see
The deaf will hear
The dead will live again
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of The Lamb

Mary, did you know
That your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
That your Boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know
That your Baby Boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping Child you're holding
Is the Great, I Am?

Oh, Mary, did you know?
Mary, did you know?

Grown-up Christmas List (Amy Grant)

Do you remember me?
I sat upon your knee
I wrote to you
With childhood fantasies

Well, I’m all grown up now
And still need help somehow
I’m not a child
But my heart still can dream

So here’s my lifelong wish
My grown-up Christmas list
Not for myself
But for a world in need

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
This is my grown-up Christmas list

As children we believed
The grandest sight to see
Was something lovely
Wrapped beneath our tree

Well, heaven surely knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal
A hurting human soul

No more lives torn apart
And wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end
Oh, this is my grown-up Christmas list
This is my only lifelong wish
This is my grown-up Christmas list

Mary's Boy Child Dec 24, 2019

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvXLnc872XA

Mary's Boy Child (Cliff Richard, Helmut Lotti)

A long time ago in Bethlehem
So the Holy Bible say(s)
Mary's boy child, Jesus Christ
Was born on Christmas Day

While shepherds watched their flocks by night
They saw a bright new shining star
And heard a choir from heaven sing
The music seemed to come from afar

Hark, now hear the angels sing
A new King born today
That man will live forevermore
Because of Christmas Day

Now, Joseph and his wife, Mary
Came to Bethlehem that night
And in a stable cold and dark
A boy was born, a glorious light

Hark, now hear the angels sing
A new King born today
That man will live forevermore
Because of Christmas Day

Trumpets sound and angels sing
Listen to what they say
That man will live forevermore
Because of Christmas Day

The Best of Times (Faith Prince, Marin Mazzie, John Barrowman)

The best of times is now
What's left of summer but a faded rose
The best of times is now
As for tomorrow, well, who knows, who knows, who knows?

So hold this moment fast
And live and love as hard as you know how
And make this moment last
Because the best of times is now, is now, is now

Now, not some forgotten yesterday
Now, tomorrow is too far away

So hold this moment fast
And live and love as hard as you know how
And make this moment last
Because the best of times is now, is now, is now

Auld Lang Syne Dec 31, 2019

Auld Lang Syne (Peter Hollens, Anna Gilbert, Evynne Hollens)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And the days of auld lang syne

Lookin’ back on all the years gone by
How I’ve loved, how I’ve lost, and when I cried
The mem’ries in my heart I will carry with the scars
As my light for my journey on

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And the days of auld lang syne

When I picture what the world could be
We are kind (we are one), we are free
There’s no hatred in our hearts, and no one to tear apart
All the joy for our journey on

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And the days of auld lang syne
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We’ll take a cup of kindness, dear
For the days of auld lang syne

Let’s live in love and kindness, dear
In the days of auld lang syne

2020.0110.a

Mushroaming Pacific Northwest

David,

Ganoderma oregonense.

It looks like it's a Lingzhi indeed. Jan 13, 2020

From the link you provided, I was able to find something similar: It looks like this in shape, but more like the darker ones on the sides:

West Coast Reishi (Ganoderma oregonense) © ccosby / iNaturalist

So that means I stumbled on a Lingzhi. I am going to collect this thing in the summer, and wash it and let dry, then I am going to paint it with clear lacque.

Reishi sounds Japanese to me, and I never knew such a word existed until now. There is a long list of things Chinese but ntroduced into the English language via Japanese, like zen(禅), sumi-e(水墨画), and bonsai(盆栽) just to name a few most frequently encountered. Many of the Japanese versions retained the original sense of the word while the Chinese names themselves have evloved over the years. The art of bonsai for example, which is meant by planting only way back when, have been expented in China to include miniture landscapes, so it is more than just a plant in a pot, it became 盆景 while the Japanese word retained the original sense. I am not a vocabulary guy, but it would be interesting for someone to dig all those up and compile a list of such words and origins.

So, I've got deer and Lingzhhi. All I need now is a crane before I become an immortal! If I stopped posting, you guys would know that I either got poisoned eating that Lingzhi or rode a crane and flew away!

(SABI) Jan 18, 2020

WABI-SABI
The words wabi and sabi do not translate easily. Wabi originally referred to the loneliness of living in nature, remote from society; sabi meant "chill", "lean" or "withered".
Ganoderma Around the 14th century these meanings began to change, taking on more positive connotations. Wabi now connotes rustic simplicity, freshness or quietness, and can be applied to both natural and human-made objects, or understated elegance. It can also refer to quirks and anomalies arising from the process of construction, which add uniqueness and elegance to the object. Sabi is beauty or serenity that comes with age, when the life of the object and its impermanence are evidenced in its patina and wear, or in any visible repairs.

After centuries of incorporating artistic and Buddhist influences from China, wabi-sabi eventually evolved into a distinctly Japanese ideal. Over time, the meanings of wabi and sabi shifted to become more lighthearted and hopeful.

Wuhan's scary fish is now found in WA’s Snohomish Jan 22, 2020

Stocks close lower on news of deadly virus spreading to US
Fred Imbert 15 mins ago

Stocks ended lower Tuesday after the Centers for Disease Control told Reuters that a traveler from China was diagnosed with the first U.S. case of coronavirus, in Seattle.

http://m.news.cctv.com/2020/01/22/ARTIpQRcFCgOa3B6daHrwYBI200122.shtml

。。主要一点是:专家和研究人员在1月16日已经投稿 SCIENCE CHINA Life Sciences(《中国科学:生命科学》英文版 ) 指出 “… the Wuhan CoV poses a significant public health risk for human transmission via the S-protein–ACE2 binding pathway.”
