https://kuaibao.qq.com/s/20190419A01U4J00?refer=spider

A person whosesole purpose in life is to seek out people to argue with on the internet over extremely trivial issues. Such arguments can happen on blogs, Facebook, Myspace and a host of others.

第二、表达力不好,存在感爆表;

Internet troll

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll
In Internet slang, a troll is a person who starts flame wars or intentionally upsets people on the Internet. This is typically done by posting inflammatory and digressive,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog), with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses[2] and normalizing tangential discussion.[3] This is typically for the troll's amusement, or to achieve a specific result such as disrupting a rival's online activities or manipulating a political process.

The advice to ignore rather than engage with a troll is sometimes phrased as "Please don't feed the trolls."

3 Ways the Pandemic Has Made the World Better
COVID-19 has inflicted devastating losses. It has also delivered certain blessings.

ZEYNEP TUFEKCI
MARCH 18, 2021

1. WE NOW KNOW HOW TO CODE FOR OUR VACCINES

Perhaps the development that will have the most profound implications for future generations is the incredible advances in synthetic messenger RNA (mRNA) biotechnologies.

...

2. WE ACTUALLY LEARNED HOW TO USE OUR DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE

The internet, widespread digital connectivity, our many apps—it's easy to forget how new most of this is. Zoom, the ubiquitous video service that became synonymous with pandemic work, and that so many of us are understandably a little sick of, is less than 10 years old. Same with the kind of broadband access that allowed billions to stream entertainment at home and keep in touch with family members and colleagues. Internet connectivity is far from perfect or equally distributed, but it has gotten faster and more expansive over the past decade; without it, the pandemic would have been much more miserable and costly.

...

3. WE’VE UNLEASHED THE TRUE SPIRIT OF PEER REVIEW AND OPEN SCIENCE

On January 10, 2020, an Australian virologist, Edward Holmes, published a modest tweet: “All, an initial genome sequence of the coronavirus associated with the Wuhan outbreak is now available at Virological.org here.” A microbiologist responded with “And so it begins!” and added a GIF of planes taking off. And so it did indeed begin: a remarkable year of open, rapid, collaborative, dynamic—and, yes, messy—scientific activity, which included ways of collaborating that would have been unthinkable even a few decades ago.

Easter Parade (Liberace)

In your Easter bonnet
With all the frills upon it
You'll be the grandest lady
In the Easter parade

I'll be all in clover
And when they look you over
I'll be the proudest fellow
In the Easter parade

On the Avenue
Fifth Avenue
The photographers will snap us
And you'll find that you're in the rotogravure

I could write a sonnet
About your Easter bonnet
About the girl I'm taking
To the Easter parade

A quick remark: our 四合院 here has always been an unofficial thread of chats, discussions and musings. We generally welcome all discussions, so please do feel free to continue. That being said, kindly please keep in mind that respectful language should be used. When referring to another country, please refrain from using derogatory mentions such as "终国" and/or "霉国" (the list goes on for similar usage). It's important to remain respectful and courteous.

Thank you again!

Netflix for me has been a blessing and an occasional curse! It's an entertainment blessing as it's made viewing content from around the world possible - my senior dad is having a blast revisiting his beloved Japanese movies and TV series, while other family members are watching Korean dramas to their hearts' content. It's a curse because watching a TV series can be extremely time-consuming. I finally caved a few months ago and watched the entire Season 1 of The Crown and must say that it's sheer brilliance. To be honest I don't watch the story as much - I watch it for the set, the makeup, the clothes, the attention to all these little details. That bit is truly fascinating.

I also find documentaries especially the ones that are timed at about 30" to be a true test and display of linguistic abilities. There are some very apt and well translated documentaries on Netflix, and some which *could* use some tweaking. Nevertheless, all are an absolute joy to watch.

BTW, 我没怎么跟过 "This Is Us" ;目前播到 S5 E12 (04/06/2021)。
