Does anyone know where I could get hold of a Polish spell-checker?

Thanks in advance.

Ps. I would not mind buying it over the internet.

Look for "kontroler pisowni" on Google, as I've just done - you'll find something suitable.

It's not perfect, but it's a standard. In case you do not have a Polish spellchecker in your version of Word (2003), you should get

Alternatives to Microsoft's proofing tools, less convenient but free:

aspell.sourceforge.net (Aspell spelling checker)
www.kurnik.pl/dictionary/ (Polish dictionary for Aspell)
www.omegat.org/omegat/omegatk/extspell-1.1.2.zip (very basic GUI for Aspell)

Should you switch from MS Office to OpenOffice.org (OOo), OOo has over fifty free spelling dictionaries, including Polish:
