Currently, RAR is one of the most popular formats used to compress any data: documents, audio, video, etc. Archives are usually used in two cases: to store information that is not needed so far and to transfer information via open communications channels. In both cases there is a risk of corrupting the compressed file. After that it will be impossible to open it and, therefore, extract information from it. There may be various reasons why an archive becomes corrupted. If the compressed file is stored on the hard drive, the problem may be caused by failures in the operating system or software, hardware failures, power failures, etc. However, an archive is most likely to be corrupted when you carry it on removable media (CDs and DVDs, floppy disks, ZIP drives, etc.), download it from the Internet or transfer it via e-mail. From 1999 to 2007 I worked as an English teacher, a bilingual attendant, an administrative assistant and, of course, as a Translator/Interpreter. Nowadays, I am working as a translator/interpreter and as an administrative assistant in a cement factory. As a translator, I act as a freelancer and also work for a company from Rio de Janeiro that offers subtitling, dubbing and voice translation services for films and videos in general.
I have translated manuals, abstracts, articles, literary texts, technical documents, menus, folders, curriculums, websites, e-mails and movies. I have also worked as an interpreter in meetings.
In 2004, I worked as a voluntary interpreter for Rotary Club in Mariana (M.G.), with ophthalmologists that came to Brazil to help poor communities.
While I was at the University, I took part in some research projects related to English and Brazilian Portuguese phonetics.
