gommier tree

English to Portuguese Science Botany
"This tree is called a gommier tree.
Sap from the gommier tree has been used for centuries by the native people of the Caribbean to extend the burn time of candles and torches. "

I believe the scientific name is Dacryodes excelsa but i need a translation for portuguese. Any suggestions? Thank you.

tabonuco

Tabonuco is the name in spanish. The paper linked below uses it in the portuguese version of the abstract, however that abstract doesn't look like it was written by someone fluent in Portuguese...

In truth I don't think it really has a common name in Portuguese (because it's not found in Brazil), so if you don't want to use the scientific name you could go for tabonuco.
