Dizionario etimologico on line derivato dal Vocabolario Etimologico di Pianigiani,

edito per la prima volta nel 1907 in due volumi e ristampato più volte, anche con aggiunte. Dopo quasi cent'anni dalla sua comparsa, i segni dell'età si vedono; ma il dizionario ha una sua speciale gradevolezza di lettura, ricchezza di suggestioni e interessanti richiami ad altre lingue. Questa versione nasce come "work in progress": si chiede collaborazione per segnalazioni e correzioni. Avere un dizionario etimologico on line è utilissimo, e la ricerca è molto agevole. Una finestra segnala la classifica dei termini più visti… Resistete dal verificare: troverete ahimè un elenco di vocaboli poco eleganti; e invece, la storia di una parola - di qualsiasi parola - è un viaggio di esplorazione sorprendente, che amplia la comprensione e fa accedere a una intertestualità ricchissima.
