Most of my so called "clients" were my own friends who studied other subjects and had to deal with text books in English, which they did not really understand. Of course, I received very little payment... and sometimes none at all for this kind of works, but I did not mind because I found satisfaction in helping others and also in learning about other subject matters. Later on during my teaching years, I still did translation works, but not as often as before because teaching had already consumed my time.
But then, I had a motorcycle accident in which I had to spend three months at home because I was unable to walk. It was impossible to teach because I could not even leave the house. Luckily, a very good friend of mine gave my number to a direct client, which happened to be a government institution who needed help with their press-releases and annual reports, and since then I received regular translation works from them. The rest is history.More Less Message: Hi there fellow translators, nice to meet you all! I hope we can get the most out of this virtual conference and maybe start up what could be our future collaboration.
