This week Internews presents a special issue of In The Loop featuring the voices of refugee and migrant children in Greece.
Internews and Save the Children delivered a series of creative workshops designed to help Syrian children in Ritsona site and Afghan children in Oinofyta site express themselves in creative ways.
The result of the workshops is this special issue, which highlights children’s perspectives about the reasons they left their countries of origin, their experiences living in organised sites in Greece, and their dreams for the future.
The children expressed a desire to communicate to the world the conditions in which they live. Many highlighted the discomfort and humiliation they feel at having to stay in tents and containers, being unable to take warm showers and eating the same food every day.
The importance of education and recreation were also common themes, and children agreed the sites do not offer enough child-friendly activities and places to play.
- I took this photo because I want to show the world how we are living in these tents… On the TV they make it look very good, like refugees have everything they need. But in truth we have nothing… I want to make a Facebook page to show the world what is really happening. – Syrian Kurdish boy, 16-19

Translation - Italian Storie di vita quotidiana: “Voglio che la gente conosca la situazione nel campo”
Questa settimana Iternews presenta un'edizione speciale di In The Loop riguardante l'esperienza di minori rifugiati e migranti in Grecia.
Internews e Save the Children hanno organizzato una serie di workshop creativi. Lo scopo è aiutare i bambini siriani del campo di Ritsona e quelli afgani di Oinofyta ad esprimersi attraverso l'arte.
La presente edizione speciale è il risultato di questi workshop, con un'attenzione particolare alla prospettiva dei bambini sulle ragioni che li hanno portati ad abbandonare i loro Paesi di origine, sulle loro esperienze di vita nei campi profughi e sui loro sogni per il futuro.
I bambini hanno espresso il desiderio di comunicare al mondo le condizioni in cui vivono. Molti hanno sottolineato il disagio e l'umiliazione che provano nel vedersi costretti a stare in tende e container, senza la possibilità di fare docce calde e mangiando lo stesso cibo ogni giorno.
Anche l'importanza dell'istruzione e dello svago sono risultati temi ricorrenti. I ragazzi concordano sul fatto che i campi mancano di attività per bambini e di luoghi adatti al gioco.
- "Ho scattato questa foto perché voglio mostrare al mondo come viviamo in queste tende... In TV fanno sembrare tutto molto bello, come se i rifugiati avessero tutto quello di cui hanno bisogno. Ma la verità è che non abbiamo niente... Voglio creare una pagina Facebook per mostrare al mondo cosa sta accadendo davvero." - Ragazzo siriano-curdo, 16-19
