Sorry, completely forgot the context. The entire text is making me so angry, I think that's why. It's the description of a huge plof of land (part of a city) that is open for an architectural competition. The text is sent out to participating architects. I think "adressbildend" may be the same as "imagebildend", but am not at all sure.

From the gist of it, it sounds like they're using "Adress" as another word for "Standort". How about a little more background: for ex. what's the purpose of this text?

It is about the capacity of the design to create an audience, hence profile-raising.

THE inaugural Greater Taree Design Excellence Awards will be held next year, rewarding and raising the profile of design excellence across the Manning Valley.

New developments (both business and residential), heritage restorations and colour schemes, landscaping, disability access and ecological sustainability will be eligible for judging by a team of six people from within and outside the area. The judging panel is expected to comprise an architect from the country division of the NSW Branch of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, suitably qualified academic persons involved with urban and regional design from the Universities of Newcastle and New England, the city council's heritage adviser, the mayor, and a community representative.

I think you're on the right track, Silvia. It has to do with the prestigous image generated by the architecture.

Silvia, ich stimme dir und Paul zu, es hat sicher etwas damit zu tun, den Standort zu einer gefragten Adresse zu machen.
Mein Vorschlag bedarf allerdings einiger Bastelei, was den Satzbau angeht..muss ich selber nochmal drüber nachdenken

Vielleicht geht es so: Its characteristics need to answer to the requirements of a progressive working environment as well as establish it as a prime location.
Der Rest Deines Satzes könnte dann in einem zweiten Satz folgen.

agree Paul Cohen : Yup, that's my understanding of the word here as well, although "zukunftsweisend" would probably be something along the lines of "groundbreaking" or "innovative" or "visionary". "Progressive" sounds like a political approach to me.
