Spanish term or phrase: "dos anclas de leva con 10 paños de cadena"
It's the word "paño" that has me stumped. Can't find it anywhere. Can anyone explain what it is or offer a translation in English? The text describes ship manoeuvres at Puerto Coloso in Chile, from where copper concentrate and other items are shipped.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Many thanks Michael for your answer. I think I will use "lengths" although as far as I know a length could could be most anything (6 inches, 20 metres, etc.)

agree  Peter Haden: A length was called a "shackle" and is 15 fathoms (90 ft.) long. 10 lengths would be sufficient for a fairly small merchant vessel.

However, I believe they were also once measured in 'fathoms'.
