I personally think that time si more than just what the clock dictates. But it is also the time for you to perfect the things you are working on and to improve yourself. As they say, time is gold but it won't be if you are just wasting time and waiting for a miracle.

Steve said it was a once-in-a-thousand-year heat wave, I consider myself lucky to be able to experience that and survived. Life is back to normal here for the last week or so, but the damage is done. Some trees are shedding their leaves and a small number of trees have just withered.

Talking about beers, I had been buying Rainier at Costco because it's cheap and light, good to my taste, but I did not bother to read on its tiny prints to see where it was made, until one day at a friend's summer night party when I was asked what kind of beer I'd like to drink. I said I wanted a Rainier. My friend did not have it and encouraged me to try a more bitter black beer, saying the Rainier was too light to his taste and asked me why I liked it. I told him I like to support local business. He said well, the Rainier was not really a local beer, it was brewed somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, not with water from the Cascades. Not until then did I find out Rainier the beer is brewed in Golden Colorado, closer to you than it is to me.
If you want a good local beer, try this Mosquito Fleet he told me.

很高兴听说你们那里的气候已恢复正常！老酒也可以照吃不误了（北方人则说‘照喝不误’）！ Golden 确实离我们家不远，约32英里。我们进落基山游览时，常会经过 Golden。我们在那里见过一个 Coors 的啤酒厂，就在58号公路旁。但听你讲了之后，才知道 Rainier 啤酒厂也在 Golden。我想，Rainier 和 Coors 选择在 Golden 设厂，也许是因为那里的水质好。那里有一条从山上淌下来的溪流，水量挺大，是由山里的泉水和融化的雪水构成的。我们这里山顶上的雪仍没化完。以前 Rainier 在西雅图设厂，说不定也是因为 Mt. Rainier 的水质好。
Golden 小镇并不算大，但有个著名大学 Colorado School of Mines。当年清朝来美留学的幼童中，就有几位在此校留学。科罗拉多州有各种各样的矿。有些矿还在开采，但也有些矿已经衰败。
我对酒精过敏，所以很少喝酒。甭说白酒、葡萄酒，连喝点啤酒脸都会通红通红。所以，我偶尔才会喝一点啤酒，但挺喜欢那种味道。

科罗拉多州有许多高于 14,000 feet 的山峰，称为 14ers。有些山的名称很有意思，如 Harvard、Columbia、Yale 和 Oxford 等。其中 Mt. Evens 和派克斯峰 (Pikes Peak) 有柏油路一直铺到山顶，所以我开车上去过。若是让我爬，我可爬不动！十年前我开车到达派克斯峰顶时，明显感到缺氧，心跳加快，所以没敢待多久就下山了。我准备下山时，有位老汉拦我的车。我停下后，他自己却不上，而让三个年青的大学生上车。其中有一位就是 Colorado School of Mines 的学生。在聊天中得知，他们三人与那老汉一起从清晨起就徒步上山，走了5、6个小时，直到下午一点才到达顶峰。那位老汉拦住我的车后自己却不上，大概是因为他觉得他拦车比那些年青人拦车容易。一般人通常不会让陌生人搭自己的车。与那老汉相比，我甘拜下风！

Note
*1 纸板装镜头=今年春收得一款早期柯达相机，机上快门已卡壳，但镜头组件仍然完好，镜片尤其明亮，所以我把它拆下来，暂时装在纸板上，看能否给镜头予新生。这两天正在试镜头，结果出我意料：色彩和明暗层次的分辨能力胜出一般的傻瓜数码相机。
*2 Wollensak=早期美产相机上用的老镜头。二战以后美国再无好相机出产。
