Portuguese term

disposição

Portuguese to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s) Clinical trial contract
This appears in an appendix to a clinical trial contract concerning a Letter of Indemnity.

The term appears as follows: A Parte Indemnizada notifica por escrito a X de uma pretensão ou acção judicial que está ou poderá estar coberta pela presente Carta de Indemnização, no prazo de quinze (15) dias após ter recebido a notificação da referida pretensão ou acção judicial, e a X tem o direito de assumir a defesa e disposição de tal pretensão ou acção judicial;

I am thinking that 'disposição' could refer to either 'proceedings' or possibly something to do with 'willingness' but I'm wondering if there is a specific legal term for this, especially given that it refers to 'defesa e disposição'.

Many thanks

The main use of "Disposição" is actually "willingness", followed by a legal "provision", as suggested by Louise.
However, in Law, there are many other uses commonly found in the texts prepared by lawyers. I belive in this case, the suggested action is to prepare the denfense and file it before the Court.
