Dutch term

Eigen ritme

Dutch to English Medical Medical: Cardiology
Hi all,

I've come across the term "eigen ritme" in the context of a pacemaker check-up and I'm not sure how best to translate it:

"Getest of zijn eigen ritme snel bovenkwam bij een sensingtest"
"1e sensingtest: eigen ritme komt boven na 18 seconde"

Is this referring to the patient's natural heart rate? And does "bovenkomen" just mean "increase" in this context?

Any help greatly appreciated in advance!

agree Barend van Zadelhoff : To asker: 'bovenkomen' does not mean "increase" here, but "emerge"
