Regelungen

German to English Medical Law (general) Genehmigung (behördliche) Klinische Studien
Ich genehmige der xyz die Anwendung von abc unter Einhaltung der einschlägigen *gesetzlichen Regelungen* und der nachfolgenden Bestimmungen

Would "legal provisions" be an option? Since a "provision" is something that has to be done before something else can be undertaken?

Or "statutory regulations" ?

Would be great if someone versed in legal matters could point me in right direction maybe with background material that would clear this up.

A German example:

In any case, the Q should have been about "gesetzliche Regelungen," not Regelungen alone.

"the applicable Regulations" would be an apt translation particularly to a professional legal audience.
"the applicable statutory regulations" means the applicable regulations under the applicable statute(s).
Alternative: the applicable regulations under the applicable statute(s).
Caution: Sometimes legal authors try to be brief, erroneously, and when they write gesetzliche Regelungen they actually mean "the applicable statutes and regulations". The translator will usually know this because it will be evident from context.

You can also use "provisions" or "rules" etc. but you don't have to.
"Regelungen" is not a very specific term.

Agree. Sounds a bit too narrow for Regelungen. On the other hand, you might argue that "Regelungen" captures anything that falls "under the law"

I concur *with* Phil G., but *in* law in the singular, and not in the plural.

As far as I recall back to the UK's accession to the EEC in 1973 when the terminology started becoming institutionalised and before many ProZ trasnslators and intrepreters had even been born, this answer - albeit outside of the the brackets - is a standard EU translation for the FRE/ENG equivalent of 'en accord avec les dispositions legales' correspondantes.

No refs. postable on the unfamiliar computer I am on.

I use this all the time. standard phrase. avoids "provisions" and alike. "in compliance with the statutory requirements".
