Portuguese term
eixo da via
Portuguese to English
Tech/Engineering
Transport / Transportation / Shipping
This is European Portuguese, from a project proposal involving road and sidewalk improvements:
"O tipo de pavimento proposto, lajeado de granito, na zona de circulação pedonal, associado à calçada de pedra irregular, também de granito, na zona de circulação automóvel, foi escolhido de modo a realçar o carácter histórico deste espaço.
A marcar o eixo da via, de sentido único, propõe-se a existência de lajeado de granito à semelhança da área reservada à circulação pedonal."
Any explanation, in Portuguese or English, would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Quote (http://www.safermotoring.co.uk/RoadMarkings.html):
Road markings are as important as road signs and give us information about the roads we are traveling on and the actions we should or should not be taking. Read on to find out what these marking mean.
White Lines
White lines are usually on the road surface and tell you something about the road that you are traveling on. Lines that travel along the road (longitudinal) inform and warn drivers of approaching situations that will need them to do something - like turn right, or do not cross. Lines that cross the road (transverse) give instructions to road users like 'give way' or 'stop'.
A broken white line marks the middle of the road. When this line becomes longer, and the gaps get smaller, this means that there is a hazard close ahead. You should not cross this line unless you can see that the road ahead is clear and you wish to overtake another vehicle or turn off the road.

route parameters
Tricky!
Along the lines of "Throughout the course of marking out the one-way route parameters, it is recommended/proposed that..."
I don't think you'll find a boilerplate translation of this phrase.
It's an idea. Best of luck :)

Normally this would be a painted line, but in this case they want the line made in granite cobbles
