Swedish term

DO-anmäla

May offend Swedish to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters online chat text
The context:
online gaming company has sent an archive of chat text within a gaming chat room
the roomies were discussing a poster of some sort that may have been offensive in nature
one member asked the other
"plåtade du för att DO-anmäla dem??"

(Did you take a snapshot [of the poster] to report them to the ___?)

I assume DO is an authority of some description, but googling DO even with an advanced search filter is like finding a very small needle in a huge hay stack!

Discussion

trsk2000 (X) (asker) Apr 11, 2011:
@Sommerfeldt Now that I have been furnished with translation suggestions, I understand it is not offensive, of course. I was erring on the side of caution as I placed another question in the kudoz, as I am currently translating chat text from an online gaming site, where players are sometimes free to use any kind of language they want as they are private rooms for VIP members that are not moderated.
Gunnar Sommerfeldt Apr 11, 2011:
Offensive? How could this be offensive?
Also, Sven is right - that is the official translation. Anna's suggestion is a possibility, but this Ombudsman isn't just against discrimination, he/she is also working for equality, which encompasses that and more.

Thank you very much!
agree Anna Herbst : You're right, Sven. They use a translation of the old Jämo in English, rather than allow for the change of name in Swedish.
