In the second paragraph, it mentions "utile sui ricavi" twice: "al primo posto si assesta a sorpresa il Gruppo Prada, con ricavi nel 2011 pari a 2.556 milioni di euro e un utile sui ricavi del 16,9%...Benetton (al secondo posto con ricavi pari a 2.032 milioni di euro e un utile sui ricavi di +3,6%)".
I don't know how to translate that or even what it means, as opposed to, say, a profit margin.

It's a net and not gross profit margin, namel after deduction of expenses and charges.

| Thank you. So, what would be the difference between ROR or net profit margin and profit margin? Does the latter imply "gross"? I found both expressions in the same text and I wonder whether they mean different things or whether the journalist just decided to use equivalent expressions for the sake of variety. |
