Schizophrenia is a chronic, severe, and disabling brain disease. Approximately 1 percent of the population develops schizophrenia during their lifetime – more than 2 million Americans suffer from the illness in a given year. Although schizophrenia affects men and women with equal frequency, the disorder often appears earlier in men, usually in the late teens or early twenties, than in women, who are generally affected in the twenties to early thirties. People with schizophrenia often suffer terrifying symptoms such as hearing internal voices not heard by others, or believing that other people are reading their minds, controlling their thoughts, or plotting to harm them. These symptoms may leave them fearful and withdrawn. Their speech and behavior can be so disorganized that they may be incomprehensible or frightening to others. Available treatments can relieve many symptoms, but most people with schizophrenia continue to suffer some symptoms throughout their lives; it has been estimated that no more than one in five individuals recovers completely.

يعد الفصام مرضا ذهانيا منطويا على إعاقة ويتسم بأنه حاد ومزمن في آن واحد .وحوالي 1 في المائة من السكان يصابون بالفصام خلال فترة حياتهم –إذ يعاني أكثر من 2 مليون أمريكي من المرض في سنة ما .وبالرغم من أن الفصام يصيب الرجال والنساء بمعدل متساو ،إلا أن هذا الاضطراب يظهر عادة مبكرا لدى الرجال ،حيث يكون ذلك عادة عند نهاية سن المراهقة أو مطلع العشرينات ،بخلاف الوضع لدى النساء ،اللائي غالبا ما قد يصابن بالمرض في العشرينات أو مطلع الثلاثينات.

Duncan, supra, the Eleventh Circuit denied the fair use defense to a company which videotaped and sold copyrighted portions of a television news show to the featured subject. Noting that "every commercial exchange of goods and services involves both the giving of the good or service and the taking of the purchase price," the court found character and use against the defendant since "the fact that TV News Clips focuses on the giving rather than the taking cannot hide the fact that profit is its primary motive for making the exchange." Id. at 1496. The same holds true for Kinko's.
Kinko's offers a 10% discount if professors get in their orders early, emphasizes student savings, convenience, and service -- all "at no cost to your department." Kinko's shows that it is keenly aware of students' and professors' preoccupation with educational costs and provides additional services to get their business: offering campus pick-up and delivery and free copyright permission assistance. See "Campus Rep Marketing Materials 1988" (PX 17). The extent of its insistence that theirs are educational concerns and not profitmaking ones boggles the mind.

I follow a communicative approach in translation :Clarity and accuracy in communicating the original message are above literal and formal faithfulness to the original .So Ideational equivalence is far more important for me than formal equivalence ,the latter being welcome only provided it does not affect clarity of style and accuracy in meaning and does not result in any bizareness .At the same time ,I'm not for the "overcommunicative translation ",which concentrates exclusivesly on conveying the "general" message of the original and ignores its linguistic charecteristics as if one is outlining the sl text not translating it .There must always be a means between the two extremes ,and that is my guiding princple as a translator and the secret behind my success with different clients over the years.
