Source text - Russian 2.
Translation - English 2. According to the Constitution of the Russian Federation everyone has the right to apply in accordance with the international treaties of the Russian Federation to international bodies for the protection of human rights and freedoms if all the existing domestic avenues for obtaining legal protection have been exhausted (Article 46(3)). In correlation with the said provision of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, there are also the provisions of Article 15(4) thereof, which establish that international treaties of the Russian Federation are a component part of its legal system, and of Article 79, by virtue of which the Russian Federation may participate in international associations and delegate part of its powers to them in accordance with international treaties provided that this does not entail any restriction of human and individual rights and freedoms and is not inconsistent with the underlying principles of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation.
Within the scope of the exercise of the cited constitutional provisions, the Russian Federation has ratified the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and thereby declared that it is a component part of its legal system, and that by virtue of Art.46 of the Convention the European Court of Human Rights has mandatory jurisdiction, ipso facto and without special agreement, on matters regarding the interpretation and application of the provisions of the Convention and the Protocols thereto in cases of their potential violation by the Russian Federation (as per section 1 of this Article of the Convention as amended by Protocol no.14 dated 13 May 2004 the High Contracting Parties undertake to abide by the final judgments of the Court in any case to which they are parties).

Bio
Sixteen years experience of Russian to English translation, predominantly in the legal sector. I trained as a lawyer but soon realised I enjoy translation too much to give it up. Much of my career as a linguist has been spent in house - I spent seven years heading an in-house translators at Gherson, a boutique immigration law firm providing bespoke translation services to high-profile CIS individuals seeking political asylum in the UK.
I have also spent time as a linguist in the UK Civil Service, where I used my Russian skills to carry out analysis of issues of interest to UK Government customers.
My favourite documents to translate are those relating to legal proceedings taking place in Russia, but I can also be relied on to deliver high-quality English translations of corporate and commercial documents, contracts, media publications, websites and more.
