Maria Jardardottir is a performing and composing voice musician, lyricists and producer educated with a Bachelor and Master Degree in Jazz and Contemporary Music working free lance with international engagements. She has had her music played on BBC Radio 3 and 4, Norwegian NRK, Irish RTÉ as well as various radio and TV channels in Germany, Mexico and USA.
Maria has been the project leader for many tours with several ensembles (Røyst Trio/Metamorphic, Unfurl, Melatonin, J&M) to countries including UK, Canada, USA, Mexico, Norway and Finland, and has had responsibilities for fund raising, logistics such as travel and accommodation, managing immigration applications in addition to her artistic responsibilities. All of her project leading work has included translation work and utilizing both Norwegian and English, which she commands equally fluently after living in UK for 15 years. From 2005 to 2012 she taught both at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and York St Johns University in UK.
Maria is also a certified Iyengar yoga teacher as of 2015 and teaches weekly classes at Follo Yogasenter as well as commuting to UK teaching workshops there. From 2005 to 2016 Maria worked as a Front of House member at the regional Yorkshire Dance Centre in Leeds, UK, where she on a daily basis dealt with customer enquiries, accommodating both artists as well as corporate clients hiring dance studios and conference rooms at the centre plus administrative tasks. At present Maria holds a position at IKEA Furuset Aftersales department and has the role as responsible for sustainability, dealing with how the department can be more environmentally friendly and energy consumption aware. |
