Славянские языки принадлежат к индо-европейской системе языков (см. «Индо-европейские языки»). Они делятся на три группы: западную, южную и восточную. К западной группе принадлежат языки чешский, словацкий, польский с кашубским, лужицкие и вымерший в XVIII в. полабский, на котором говорили славянские племена, населявшие берега Эльбы (слав. Лаба). К южной группе принадлежат языки болгарский, сербский, хорватский и словинский. К восточной группе — русский, белорусский и украинский. С. яз. по сравнению с другими языками индо-европейской системы пережили целый ряд общих специфических явлений как в области фонетики, так и в грамматическом строе. Из наиболее существенных особенностей С. яз. следует указать на изменения задненебных согласных «k», «g», «х» перед гласными переднего ряда (палатальными). Эти изменения происходили в две разных эпохи (более раннюю и более позднюю) и в несколько отличных в каждую из них условиях. В живых С. яз., в том числе и в русском, эти исконные славянские изменения отражены как чередование звуков «к», «г», «х» и «ч», «ж», «ш» (следствия более раннего «смягчения») или же «ц», «з», «с» (следствия более позднего «смягчения») в словах одного корня: ср. напр.: молоко — молочко, друг — дружить, слух — слышим. Следы более позднего «смягчения» в русском яз. затерты последующими выравниваниями форм, но все же могут быть показаны на таких примерах, как: кратко — вкратце, друг — друзья; в украинском яз. они сохранились и в склонении, ср.: горох — у горосі. В области грамматического строя общим и специфичным для всех С. яз. является напр. развитие особого склонения прилагательных
(так наз. «местоименного» — с окончаниями, свойственными местоимениям, ср.: доброго и того) и употребление творит. падежа в составном сказуемом («он был учителем»); указанные черты кроме С. яз. наблюдаются только в языках балтийской группы. Общие лексические переживания С. яз. наиболее показательно засвидетельствованы распространением во всех С. яз. исконных заимствований из других языков. Так напр. слова «хлеб», «гусь», «купить», «князь» отмечают древнейшие славяно-германские связи; «коляда», «крамола» — романского происхождения; «бог», «топор» — иранского (последнее слово через финно-угорское посредство); «корчага», «колпак» — тюрко-татарского; «хмель», «сани» — финно-угорского и др.
Классификация С. яз. на три группы проводилась славистами гл. обр. по фонетическим признакам. В основе классификации лежала одинаковая или сходная переработка звуков и звукосочетаний (см. прилагаемую табл.). Усвоив методологические концепции праязыка и расщепления его (по теории «родового дерева» Авг. Шлейхера, 1821—1868), слависты в соответствии с каждой группой славянских яз. реконструировали отдельный праязык. Несостоятельность подобных концепций выразительно сигнализируется распределением даже основных фактов, которые служат материалом при реконструкциях. Так напр. общий праязык западнославянский предполагал бы одинаковую переработку исконных групп «tort», «tolt» во всех языках этой группы, а между тем. мы имеем в польском яз. «-ro-», «-lo-» при чешском и словацком «-ra-», «-la-» (см. табл.).

1 В формуле «tort» знаком «t» символизируется любая согласная, т. е. так обозначается позиция «or» и т. п. между двумя согласными.
В области морфологии С. яз. представляют большее единство, но данные ее часто не совпадают с классификацией, основанной на фонетических признаках. Все С. яз. сохранили формы склонения за исключением болгарского языка, который имеет только склонение местоимений. Падежные отношения он выражает не падежной флексией, а сочетанием слова (в форме общего падежа) с предлогом и порядком слов. Число падежей у всех С. яз. одинаково. Некоторые из них (напр. русский) только не имеют особой формы звательного падежа. С. яз. утратили форму двойственного числа; его сохранили только словинский яз. и лужицкий. Другие только имеют архаические остатки, которые теперь выражают множественное число (русск. —
«уши», «плечи»; болг. — «ръце», «крака»). В области глагола С. яз. расходятся: в южнославянских яз. глагол характеризуется развитой системой времен (аорист, имперфект, перфект, плюсквамперфект), в западнославянских времен уже меньше (нет аориста и имперфекта), а в восточнославянских этих времен совсем нет, и глагол пользуется различными видами, которые, напр. в русском, играют огромную роль.
Все славянские языки тесно связаны между собою в лексическом отношении. Огромным процент слов встречается во всех С. яз. Лексические отличия связаны преимущественно с различными иноязычными влияниями. Ср. напр. различие в С. яз. слов для обозначения понятия «товар»: русское слово представляет заимствование из татарского, болгарское «стока» — турецкого происхождения, сербское «роба» — и итальянского, польское «kram» — германское заимствование. Западнославянские яз. испытали сильное словарное влияние со стороны средневековой латыни и немецкого яз. Южнославянские яз. испытали влияние со стороны греческого, турецкого, албанского, румынского и венгерского языков. Восточнославянские тоже испытали сильное влияние греческого языка, татарского, финских языков и др.
Близость С. яз. между собою является причиною многочисленных споров о границах, о взаимоотношениях между отдельными С. яз. и т. п. За всеми этими спорами, имеющими на первый взгляд чисто научный интерес, скрываются различные империалистические устремления буржуазии различных славянских государств. Польские слависты доказывают, что кашубский язык не может существовать отдельно, что близость его к польскому ставит его на положение наречия, которое должно быть ассимилировано более культурно сильным языком. Сербские лингвисты отрицают всякую самобытность за хорватским
литературным языком. Они же (Белич) македонских славян относят к сербам, несмотря на то, что ни данные языка ни данные этнографии и истории этого подтвердить не могут. Болгарские ученые (Цонев) со своей стороны отрицают самостоятельность македонцев и стараются обосновать данными филологии и этнографии притязания на Македонию со стороны болгарского империализма.
Великодержавное славяноведение царской России отрицало всякую самостоятельность за украинским и белорусским яз. и объявляло их наречиями общерусского языка. Реакционные лингвисты (Соболевский, Флоринский и др.) являлись идеологами денационализаторской политики царизма по отношению к украинцам и белоруссам. С другой стороны, следует отметить в истории славянского языковедения и факты националистической тенденциозности в концепциях о взаимоотношениях родственных языков, как напр. размышления украиноведа Смаль-Стоцкого об исконной отделенности украинского языка от языков восточнославянской группы или теории словацкого ученого Цамбеля о принадлежности словацкого яз. к группе южнославянской. Когда после Великой Октябрьской пролетарской революции в результате осуществления ленинско-сталинской национальной политики народы Советского Союза получили возможность строить свою культуру, национальную по форме и социалистическую по содержанию, и лит-ные языки украинцев и белоруссов начали быстро развиваться, украинские и белорусские нацдемовцы пытались-было направить это развитие на отрыв этих языков от русского, но попытки эти встретили решительный отпор со стороны трудящихся масс Украины и Белоруссии.
С. яз. занимают значительную территорию, границы которой в течение времени сильно изменялись. На Западе шел процесс ассимиляции и
вытеснения С. яз. германскими языками. Еще до XVIII в. был славянский народ полабы, который жил по течению реки Эльбы (Лабы). От XVII—XVIII вв. дошло несколько памятников на языке этих славян. Последние поселения полабян известны были в Люховском округе еще в середине XVIII в. Лужичане, насчитывающие сейчас около 150 000 чел., занимали некогда обширные области между Эльбой и Чешским лесом. Теперь они живут в Саксонии и Пруссии. В XIX в. значительное число западных славян (поляков и словаков) переселилось в Новый Свет. В Америке польский яз. испытал сильное влияние со стороны англо-американского наречия. Распространение русского языка шло вместе с расширением границ России. Он распространился по всей Сибири (гл. обр. северо-русские говоры), по Дальнему Востоку (Приморье, Сахалин, Камчатка). Есть в Сибири и на Д. Востоке и украинские поселения. Русский и украинский языки заняли значительные територии на С. Кавказе. Болгарский язык представлен в колониях в Румынии, в Бессарабии, на Украине, в Крыму. Много болгар в Америке. До XVIII в. в Семиградии жило много болгар, которые в XIII в. были туда переселены из северной Болгарии. Известный ученый Миклошич (1813—1891) принимал их ошибочно за древнейшие остатки первоначальных болгарских поселений. Сербский язык распространен в южной Италии, где в Кампобассо имеются многочисленные сербские колонии. Много в Италии и словинцев.
Формирование национальных литературных языков связано у славян с началом создания национальных государств и национально-буржуазных движений за освобождение (см. статьи по отдельным языкам, указанным в тексте).
Письменность у славянских народов возникла в конце первого тысячелетия. Начало ей положили братья Кирилл и Мефодий —
вельможи при дворе византийского императора Михаила III, выполняя дипломатическую миссию последнего в землях моравского князя Ростислава (в 863). Организация церкви и литургического (богослужебного) языка для славян входила в задачи миссии. Происходя родом из Селуня (нын. Фессалоники), братья усвоили селунский говор староболгарского яз. и этот свой родной диалект положили в основу славянских переводов церковных книг. см. «Старославянский язык». Интересно отметить, что по вопросу о языковой принадлежности старославянских памятников в славистике велись ожесточенные споры. Словинцы Копитар и Миклошич защищали так наз. «паннонскую» теорию, по которой основа языка старославянских памятников была не болгарская, а старословенская. Теория эта возникла на почве националистических модификаций панславистских притязании: отдельным славянским национализмам важно было обосновать право исторической преемственности на «язык первоучителей славянских».
Памятники древнеболгарской письменности написаны двумя азбуками — кириллицией (напр. «Саввина книга») и глаголицей (напр. «Синайская псалтырь»). см. «Кириллица» и «Глаголица». В настоящее время в С. яз. употребляются славянская («гражданская») и латинская графики. Восточные славяне, болгары и сербы употребляют славянскую графику. Западные славяне, хорваты и словенцы употребляют латинскую графику, приспособленную к звуковой системе того или иного С. яз. путем системы диакритических знаков или комбинации букв. Кроме этих график еще и теперь кое-где употребляется глаголица. Так, в Далмации и на некоторых островах Адриатического моря она употребляется в церковных книгах хорватами-католиками.
Научное изучение С. яз. началось с первой половины XIX в. Из славистов, оставивших заметный след в изучении С. яз., следует указать Добровского, Востокова, Копитара, Шафарика, Григоровича, Миклошича, Ягича, Лескина, Шахматова и др.

Slavic languages belong of Indo-European languages.They are divided into three groups: Western, South and East. Laba). To the southern group belong languages Bulgarian, Serbian, Croatian and Slovenian. To the Eastern group —Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian. Slavic languages compared to other languages of the Indo-European system has experienced a number of common specifications: phenomena in the field of phonetics and the grammatical system. Of the most significant features S. lang. should indicate the changes consonants "k", "g", "h"before the vowels of the front series. Classification of Slavic languages into three groups wich was carried out by scientists,happend mainly thanks to phonetics and their signs,also their origin.The classification was similar processing sounds and also their resonant(see the attached table). Having acquired methodological concept of proto-language and splitting (on the theory of "family tree" Schleicher, 1821—1868),scientists,in accordance with each group of Slavic languages,give us the model of proto-languag.The failure of such expressive concepts is indicated by even distribution basic facts that serve as the material for the reconstructions. So eg. common west Slavic proto-language would imply the same the processing of ancestral groups "tort", "tolt" in all the languages of this group, meanwhile have in Polish language "-ro-", "-lo-" when the Czech and Slovak "-ra-", "-la-" (see table).

Polish Slavists prove that the Kashubian language cannot exist separately, that its proximity to the Polish it puts on the position of adverbs, which must be culturally assimilated by a more powerful language. Serbian linguists deny any identity for Croatian the literary language. Russian and Ukrainian languages had occupied a significant territory on the North Caucasus. The Bulgarian language is represented in the colonies in Romania, Bessarabia, Ukraine, Crimea. A lot of Bulgarians in America. Before the XVIII century in Semigradia(the district now Romania) were many Bulgarians, who in the thirteenth century were relocated there from Northern Bulgaria. A well-known scientific Miklosich (1813-1891) mistakenly took them for the remains of the original ancient Bulgarian settlements. The Serbian language spoken in southern Italy, where a lot of numerous Serbian colony in Campobasso. Many in Italy and Slovenian.
The formation of the national literary language of the Slavs is connected with the beginning of the creation of nation States and national movements for liberation.
The written language of the Slavic peoples appeared at the end of the first Millennium. Currently in S. lang. used Slavic ("civil") and Latin script. Eastern Slavs, Bulgarians and Serbs used Slavic graphics. Western Slavs, the Croats and Slovenes use the Latin alphabet, adapted to a sound system or another Slavic language by the diacritics or combinations letters. So eg. the words "bread", "goose", "to buy "Prince" celebrate the ancient Slavic-German relations; "Christmas Carol", "sedition"- is Romanski in origin; "God", "ax" -Iranian (the last word through the Finno-Ugric language); "korchah "cap" — the Turk-Tatar; "hops", "Sani" — Finno-Ugric, etc.
Classification of Slavic languages into three groups wich was carried out by scientists,happend mainly thanks to phonetics and their signs,also their origin.The classification was similar processing sounds and also their resonant(see the attached table). Having acquired methodological concept of proto-language and splitting (on the theory of "family tree" Schleicher, 1821—1868),scientists,in accordance with each group of Slavic languages,give us the model of proto-languag.The failure of such expressive concepts is indicated by even distribution basic facts that serve as the material for the reconstructions. So eg. common west Slavic proto-language would imply the same the processing of ancestral groups "tort", "tolt" in all the languages of this group, meanwhile have in Polish language "-ro-", "-lo-" when the Czech and Slovak "-ra-", "-la-" (see table).

All Slavic languages are closely related among themselves in lexical respect. A huge percentage of words found in all S. lang. Polish Slavists prove that the Kashubian language cannot exist separately, that its proximity to the Polish it puts on the position of adverbs, which must be culturally assimilated by a more powerful language. Serbian linguists deny any identity for Croatian the literary language. They (belich) Macedonian Slavs belong to the Serbs, despite the fact that neither the data nor the language data of Ethnography and the history of this can not confirm. A well-known scientific Miklosich (1813-1891) mistakenly took them for the remains of the original ancient Bulgarian settlements. The formation of the national literary language of the Slavs is connected with the beginning of the creation of nation States and national movements for liberation.
The written language of the Slavic peoples appeared at the end of the first Millennium. It began with the brothers Cyril and Methodius — nobles at the court of the Byzantine Emperor Michael III, fulfilling a diplomatic mission of the latter in the lands of the Moravian Prince Rostislav (863 year). The organization of the Church and liturgical (liturgical) language for the Slavs was part of the mission. Monuments of old Bulgarian literature written by on two alphabet — Kirillitsa (eg. "Savvina kniga") and Glagolitic (eg. "The Sinai Psalter"). see "Cyrillic" and "the Glagolitic alphabet". Currently in S. lang. used Slavic ("civil") and Latin script. Eastern Slavs, Bulgarians and Serbs used Slavic graphics. Western Slavs, the Croats and Slovenes use the Latin alphabet, adapted to a sound system or another Slavic language by the diacritics or combinations letters. Славянские языки принадлежат к индо-европейской системе языков (см. «Индо-европейские языки»). Они делятся на три группы: западную, южную и восточную. К западной группе принадлежат языки чешский, словацкий, польский с кашубским, лужицкие и вымерший в XVIII в. полабский, на котором говорили славянские племена, населявшие берега Эльбы (слав. Лаба). К южной группе принадлежат языки болгарский, сербский, хорватский и словинский. К восточной группе — русский, белорусский и украинский. С. яз. по сравнению с другими языками индо-европейской системы пережили целый ряд общих специфических явлений как в области фонетики, так и в грамматическом строе. Из наиболее существенных особенностей С. яз. следует указать на изменения задненебных согласных «k», «g», «х» перед гласными переднего ряда (палатальными). Эти изменения происходили в две разных эпохи (более раннюю и более позднюю) и в несколько отличных в каждую из них условиях. В живых С. яз., в том числе и в русском, эти исконные славянские изменения отражены как чередование звуков «к», «г», «х» и «ч», «ж», «ш» (следствия более раннего «смягчения») или же «ц», «з», «с» (следствия более позднего «смягчения») в словах одного корня: ср. напр.: молоко — молочко, друг — дружить, слух — слышим. Следы более позднего «смягчения» в русском яз. затерты последующими выравниваниями форм, но все же могут быть показаны на таких примерах, как: кратко — вкратце, друг — друзья; в украинском яз. они сохранились и в склонении, ср.: горох — у горосі. В области грамматического строя общим и специфичным для всех С. яз. является напр. развитие особого склонения прилагательных
(так наз. «местоименного» — с окончаниями, свойственными местоимениям, ср.: доброго и того) и употребление творит. падежа в составном сказуемом («он был учителем»); указанные черты кроме С. яз. наблюдаются только в языках балтийской группы. Общие лексические переживания С. яз. наиболее показательно засвидетельствованы распространением во всех С. яз. исконных заимствований из других языков. Так напр. слова «хлеб», «гусь», «купить», «князь» отмечают древнейшие славяно-германские связи; «коляда», «крамола» — романского происхождения; «бог», «топор» — иранского (последнее слово через финно-угорское посредство); «корчага», «колпак» — тюрко-татарского; «хмель», «сани» — финно-угорского и др.
Классификация С. яз. на три группы проводилась славистами гл. обр. по фонетическим признакам. В основе классификации лежала одинаковая или сходная переработка звуков и звукосочетаний (см. прилагаемую табл.). Усвоив методологические концепции праязыка и расщепления его (по теории «родового дерева» Авг. Шлейхера, 1821—1868), слависты в соответствии с каждой группой славянских яз. реконструировали отдельный праязык. Несостоятельность подобных концепций выразительно сигнализируется распределением даже основных фактов, которые служат материалом при реконструкциях. Так напр. общий праязык западнославянский предполагал бы одинаковую переработку исконных групп «tort», «tolt» во всех языках этой группы, а между тем. мы имеем в польском яз. «-ro-», «-lo-» при чешском и словацком «-ra-», «-la-» (см. табл.).

В области морфологии С. яз. представляют большее единство, но данные ее часто не совпадают с классификацией, основанной на фонетических признаках. Все С. яз. сохранили формы склонения за исключением болгарского языка, который имеет только склонение местоимений. Падежные отношения он выражает не падежной флексией, а сочетанием слова (в форме общего падежа) с предлогом и порядком слов. Число падежей у всех С. яз. одинаково. Некоторые из них (напр. русский) только не имеют особой формы звательного падежа. С. яз. утратили форму двойственного числа; его сохранили только словинский яз. и лужицкий. Другие только имеют архаические остатки, которые теперь выражают множественное число (русск. —
«уши», «плечи»; болг. — «ръце», «крака»). В области глагола С. яз. расходятся: в южнославянских яз. глагол характеризуется развитой системой времен (аорист, имперфект, перфект, плюсквамперфект), в западнославянских времен уже меньше (нет аориста и имперфекта), а в восточнославянских этих времен совсем нет, и глагол пользуется различными видами, которые, напр. в русском, играют огромную роль.
Все славянские языки тесно связаны между собою в лексическом отношении. Огромным процент слов встречается во всех С. яз. Лексические отличия связаны преимущественно с различными иноязычными влияниями. Ср. напр. различие в С. яз. слов для обозначения понятия «товар»: русское слово представляет заимствование из татарского, болгарское «стока» — турецкого происхождения, сербское «роба» — и итальянского, польское «kram» — германское заимствование. Западнославянские яз. испытали сильное словарное влияние со стороны средневековой латыни и немецкого яз. Южнославянские яз. испытали влияние со стороны греческого, турецкого, албанского, румынского и венгерского языков. Восточнославянские тоже испытали сильное влияние греческого языка, татарского, финских языков и др.
Близость С. яз. между собою является причиною многочисленных споров о границах, о взаимоотношениях между отдельными С. яз. и т. п. За всеми этими спорами, имеющими на первый взгляд чисто научный интерес, скрываются различные империалистические устремления буржуазии различных славянских государств. Польские слависты доказывают, что кашубский язык не может существовать отдельно, что близость его к польскому ставит его на положение наречия, которое должно быть ассимилировано более культурно сильным языком. Сербские лингвисты отрицают всякую самобытность за хорватским
литературным языком. Они же (Белич) македонских славян относят к сербам, несмотря на то, что ни данные языка ни данные этнографии и истории этого подтвердить не могут. Болгарские ученые (Цонев) со своей стороны отрицают самостоятельность македонцев и стараются обосновать данными филологии и этнографии притязания на Македонию со стороны болгарского империализма.
Великодержавное славяноведение царской России отрицало всякую самостоятельность за украинским и белорусским яз. и объявляло их наречиями общерусского языка. Реакционные лингвисты (Соболевский, Флоринский и др.) являлись идеологами денационализаторской политики царизма по отношению к украинцам и белоруссам. С другой стороны, следует отметить в истории славянского языковедения и факты националистической тенденциозности в концепциях о взаимоотношениях родственных языков, как напр. размышления украиноведа Смаль-Стоцкого об исконной отделенности украинского языка от языков восточнославянской группы или теории словацкого ученого Цамбеля о принадлежности словацкого яз. к группе южнославянской. Когда после Великой Октябрьской пролетарской революции в результате осуществления ленинско-сталинской национальной политики народы Советского Союза получили возможность строить свою культуру, национальную по форме и социалистическую по содержанию, и лит-ные языки украинцев и белоруссов начали быстро развиваться, украинские и белорусские нацдемовцы пытались-было направить это развитие на отрыв этих языков от русского, но попытки эти встретили решительный отпор со стороны трудящихся масс Украины и Белоруссии.
С. яз. занимают значительную территорию, границы которой в течение времени сильно изменялись. На Западе шел процесс ассимиляции и
вытеснения С. яз. германскими языками. Еще до XVIII в. был славянский народ полабы, который жил по течению реки Эльбы (Лабы). От XVII—XVIII вв. дошло несколько памятников на языке этих славян. Последние поселения полабян известны были в Люховском округе еще в середине XVIII в. Лужичане, насчитывающие сейчас около 150 000 чел., занимали некогда обширные области между Эльбой и Чешским лесом. Теперь они живут в Саксонии и Пруссии. В XIX в. значительное число западных славян (поляков и словаков) переселилось в Новый Свет. В Америке польский яз. испытал сильное влияние со стороны англо-американского наречия. Распространение русского языка шло вместе с расширением границ России. Он распространился по всей Сибири (гл. обр. северо-русские говоры), по Дальнему Востоку (Приморье, Сахалин, Камчатка). Есть в Сибири и на Д. Востоке и украинские поселения. Русский и украинский языки заняли значительные територии на С. Кавказе. Болгарский язык представлен в колониях в Румынии, в Бессарабии, на Украине, в Крыму. Много болгар в Америке. До XVIII в. в Семиградии жило много болгар, которые в XIII в. были туда переселены из северной Болгарии. Известный ученый Миклошич (1813—1891) принимал их ошибочно за древнейшие остатки первоначальных болгарских поселений. Сербский язык распространен в южной Италии, где в Кампобассо имеются многочисленные сербские колонии. Много в Италии и словинцев.
Формирование национальных литературных языков связано у славян с началом создания национальных государств и национально-буржуазных движений за освобождение (см. статьи по отдельным языкам, указанным в тексте).
Письменность у славянских народов возникла в конце первого тысячелетия. Начало ей положили братья Кирилл и Мефодий —
вельможи при дворе византийского императора Михаила III, выполняя дипломатическую миссию последнего в землях моравского князя Ростислава (в 863). Организация церкви и литургического (богослужебного) языка для славян входила в задачи миссии. Происходя родом из Селуня (нын. Фессалоники), братья усвоили селунский говор староболгарского яз. и этот свой родной диалект положили в основу славянских переводов церковных книг. см. «Старославянский язык». Интересно отметить, что по вопросу о языковой принадлежности старославянских памятников в славистике велись ожесточенные споры. Словинцы Копитар и Миклошич защищали так наз. «паннонскую» теорию, по которой основа языка старославянских памятников была не болгарская, а старословенская. Теория эта возникла на почве националистических модификаций панславистских притязании: отдельным славянским национализмам важно было обосновать право исторической преемственности на «язык первоучителей славянских».
Памятники древнеболгарской письменности написаны двумя азбуками — кириллицией (напр. «Саввина книга») и глаголицей (напр. «Синайская псалтырь»). см. «Кириллица» и «Глаголица». В настоящее время в С. яз. употребляются славянская («гражданская») и латинская графики. Восточные славяне, болгары и сербы употребляют славянскую графику. Западные славяне, хорваты и словенцы употребляют латинскую графику, приспособленную к звуковой системе того или иного С. яз. путем системы диакритических знаков или комбинации букв. Кроме этих график еще и теперь кое-где употребляется глаголица. Так, в Далмации и на некоторых островах Адриатического моря она употребляется в церковных книгах хорватами-католиками.
Научное изучение С. яз. началось с первой половины XIX в. Из славистов, оставивших заметный след в изучении С. яз., следует указать Добровского, Востокова, Копитара, Шафарика, Григоровича, Миклошича, Ягича, Лескина, Шахматова и др.
