Bio
ENGLISH TO ITALIAN /ITALIAN TO ENGLISH TRANSLATOR.

After completing my four-year plus thesis master's program at the University of Bologna, Italy, where I specialized in Film and Communication Studies, I worked for a year in a national Screenplay Award and then moved to the United States. In America I began teaching Italian and studying English/Film Studies at the University of Kentucky, USA. I earned my master's degree in the year 2000, while I was already working as freelance translator and researcher.

For many years, translating has been more a passion than a real job. I was too eager to experience other professions and environments and took only occasional translating and writing jobs.

My professional experience includes teaching Italian, English and Business Communication, working as copywriter, librarian, front desk secretary, guide and interpreter in tourism-related activities. My work took me from Italy to the USA and Norway and, thus, I believe, I have been humanly and professionally enriched by the discovery of other cultures and people.

I have a strong interest in the Humanities. Art, Music, Literature and Filmography but also Anthropology and whatever gives me insights into other cultural worlds and psichologies. Knowing what lies behind words is a great aid to understand both the apparent and hidden meanings of words, to detect style and tone of a text and try to render it in another language. I consider translation a delicate job, one that involves wide knowledge, an open mind, curiosity and sensibility. A job that involves many skills and competencies which result in texts translated with style, accuracy and the appropriate tone.

After many years abroad, I returned to Sardinia where I found the ideal setting to become a full-time translator. At the moment, I am also the translator of a bilingual magazine called Sardegnanews Magazine.
