Spanish term

desconexión territorial

Spanish to English Other Telecom(munications) Television (digital)
This relates to the framework for licencing digital TV broadcasters, but I am not sure exactly what is meant. I suspect they may be talking about the ability to broadcast different programmes in different regions, but I may be completely wrong - please help me try and understand what is meant (this is more important to me than the pure translation of the words).

Context:

and from an EU document (OPEN NETWORK PROVISION COMMITTEE - Working document) (Comparing situations in EU countries):

(Under: Licensees: multiplex operators, service operators, others)

I don't know what the term is in English, but I think 'desconexión territorial' means the capacity of a TV or radio station to allow different information to be broadcast in different geographical regions simultaneously (for example, to give some time to publicity for local elections or something). It's explained -more or less- on the page of the link given. Good luck.

local/territorial interruption

I don't really know the term, but I am sure the explanation is about the systems that allow local broadcasters to "cut into" national programming with their own regional programmes - I hope someone else knows the exact term!
Note from asker:
Many thanks for your help Edward. I certainly needed the confirmation. The term I found and used in the end was "opt-out", see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opt-out

regional disconnects

From this doc
http://impulsatdt.es/pdf/NP-TVE-desconexiones.pdf
It seems clear what is going on - the spanish national network is being broken up into local or regional networks, and this implies a phased - by region - switching off, or disconnection from, the national network, and users will have to re-tune to the new frequencies
