Historically….
The health education component has received less attention/priority. This is due to several factors including poor understanding/capacity of healthcare professionals – on health education. Limited resource allocation for health education. An overlap between health education, health promotion and health literacy.

Health
The WHO Constitution of 1948 defines health as a state of complete physical, social and mental well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. In addition, the Ottawa Declaration states an “individual or group must be able to identify and realize aspirations, to satisfy needs, and to change or cope with the environment. Health is, therefore, seen as a resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities”.
Health education
“Consciously constructed opportunities for learning involving some form of communication designed to improve health literacy, including improving knowledge, and developing life skills, which are conducive to individual and community health.” The WHO health promotion glossary describes health education as not limited to the dissemination of health-related information but also “fostering the motivation, skills and confidence (self-efficacy) necessary to take action to improve health”, as well as “the communication of information concerning the underlying social, economic and environmental conditions impacting on health, as well as individual risk factors and risk behaviours, and use of the health care system”.

Sexual Exploitation is any actual or attempted abuse of a position of vulnerability, differential power or trust, for sexual purposes including but not limited to, profiting monetarily, socially or politically from the sexual exploitation.
Sexual abuse is the actual or threatened physical intrusion of a sexual nature, whether by force or under unequal or coercive conditions.
Sexual Harassment is any unwanted sexual advances, request for sexual favour, verbal or physical conduct or gesture of a sexual nature, or any other behaviour of a sexual nature, that might reasonably be expected or be perceived, to cause offence or humiliation to another.
Any gender can be either a victim or an offender.
Responsibilities of Employees:
1. Report concerns to your project focal point (depending on your project, this may be the chief of party, team leader or safeguarding focal point), Human Resources or Line Manager.
2. Specific complaints and rumours regarding sexual exploitation and abuse and sexual harassment by a Company representative or any other person connected with our projects.
