כיצד לשמר בסיס יציב?
מערכת הצ'אקרות, על פי מסורת ההינדו, מורכבת משבעה מרכזים אנרגטיים המקבילים לעמוד השדרה, מן השורש אל הכתר. המילה 'צ'אקרה' בסנסקרית פירושה גלגל, משום שאנרגיה מטבעה היא דבר שנע במעגליות. קרוליין מיס מתייחסת אל מערכת הצ'אקרות כאל בנק אנרגיה, וממליצה שלפני שנשקיע את הארגיה שלנו במחשבה, דיבור או מעשה, נוודא שהשקעה האנרגטית משתלמת. במידה שכן, נחוצה מודעות מתמשכת כדי לבצע החלטות שקולות, אחרת, אנו עשויים להתיש את עצמנו ובכך לגרום לעצמנו להזיק לתפקוד הגופני שלנו ואף לגרום למחלות.

How to Maintain a Strong Foundation
The chakra system in the Hindu tradition is composed of seven energetic centers, running through the body (parallel to the spine) from the perineum to the crown.
The chakra system is the energetic system of the body. Caroline Myss refers to the chakra system as an energetic bank. She recommends that before we invest our energy in thought, speech and action, we should make sure our investments payback. In that case, we need continual alertness to make sound decisions. Otherwise, we could become exhausted and drained and attract disease and malfunction.
Practically speaking, weakness in certain areas of the body can translate into disease or emotional unbalance. For example, a weak first chakra, which is the foundation of the whole energetic system affects the body's capacity to sustain itself to stand tall, much like a weak foundation in a building could cause the building to collapse.
People who are slouched and cannot sit or stand straight are often suffering from a weak first chakra (or from weak lower chakras), which in turn affect the whole body and emotional system.
Each chakra (which means wheel in Sanskrit –because energy is in motion) represents different aspects of our being…I would say of our humanity. When the chakras are running slow, the whole system is affected.
The first chakra represents the beginning, the cell from hence the building is built.
In the Jewish tradition, the first chakra pertains to the Yessod (in the world of sefirot, as described in Kabbalah), the foundation of life. It symbolizes grounding and contains all the threads that connect it to the other higher sefirot.
It is manifested and embodied in Joseph, who withstood the temptation to surrender to the advances of Potiphar's wife (he was 17, stunningly good looking and a servant in a foreign land, remote from his family and tribe). Yet he did not sin through the covenant (brit milah), the foundation.
He is thus called the Tzaddik and although his brothers also embody other sefirot, such as Hessed (loving-kindness) or Gevurah (strength), which might seem more noble, Joseph represents the founding stone upon which all the other siblings stand. The brothers were righteous in other aspects but to a lesser degree because they apparently were not in command of their lower instincts.
Joseph is King because he is King over his instincts, his lower chakras in modern jargon.
So that when Joseph's brothers explore the land of Egypt, looking for Joseph and visit every slum, every brothel and every side-street, hoping to find the brother whom they sold as a slave, they are harshly criticized by Joseph, now Vice Roy of Egypt. Joseph tells them: "You have come to explore the nudity of the land…"
It is an understatement; Joseph is accusing them of defiling the covenant or at least, exposing themselves to do so.
So before going back to the chakra system, it is clear that the foundation, the yessod contains all the other attributes in the family tree and the tree of life; but the other way around does not apply.
Now back to the chakras.
The first chakra symbolizes belonging to the tribe. Likewise, the Brit Mila ceremony is not only a circumcision rite or an operation. It is the welcoming rite of a newborn into the tribe of Abraham's covenant.
Some people firmly believe that they were born in the wrong tribe and feel a disconnection from their family, their community and their tribe…as well as from themselves. They may suffer from a sense of blurred identity and fail to discover their purpose in life. Like a plucked flower, they may have many other wonderful attributes which cannot manifest in concrete ways.
This sense of disconnection causes many problems, such as difficulty in choosing or making decisions, feeling hazy, difficulties in earning a living and feeling uprooted, not only from family and tribe, but from all humanity and nature.
The energetic system is built in such a way that each and every chakra affects the entire system.
And most, if not all physical ailments, although they may manifest in the upper chakras, like the throat or heart chakra, really originate in the lower chakras.
Through our first chakra, we connect to all that is. Its role is to remind us that we are connected, not only to our family and tribe but to humanity, to all of nature. It symbolizes that everything is one (Caroline Myss on Chakras, Youtube).
Perhaps next time I get annoyed at somebody, I will try to remember that we are all one and that this person is a mirror of myself.

Chair Pose
Instructions
• Begin in a standing position with feet shoulder-width apart
• Squat down to the point where the thighs are parallel to the ground
• The soles of the feet are straight on the floor but alternatively, you can squat on your toes to facilitate the pose.
• Straighten your arms forward, parallel to the ground and intertwine your fingers, except the index fingers which are pointing out. (men cross right thumb over left thumb, women, cross left thumb over right thumb).
• Keep the back straight and look forward or apply neck lock.
• Do breath of fire. Alternatively do long deep breathing.
• Work your way gradually to sustain the pose for three minutes.
