Discussion

Nadia-Anastasia Fahmi (asker) May 11, 2015:
Nick/Peter, Now that we've solved the main problems of this question ;-), I want to thank you both (and Lina) for your help and time.
Καλή συνέχεια και καλή εβδομάδα!
Peter Close May 11, 2015:
OK, Nick, thanks I think my main problem was that I didn't check to see what the question was about. If I had, I probably would not even have asked my original question, because these are subjects that have never really interested me and therefore I do not know much about them.
Peter Close May 11, 2015:
Thanks Nick, too Then, no wonder I suggested it, because Antiphanes is not one of my favourite authors, I must confess, and so I am unlikely to have noticed the fact that he mentioned this in one of his books.
Nick Lingris May 11, 2015:
Another main problem would be that φύλλον was not used to mean pastry of any sort.
Peter Close May 11, 2015:
Thanks Nadia, But you can be abstemious eating pastry foods, too, especially if you eat χορτόπιτες and don't have large portions! However, I respect your views and opinion and I am purposefully not answering because this is a subject that I know very little about.
Nick Lingris May 11, 2015:
The word (along with μικροτράπεζοι) appears in Antiphanes' Oenomaus:

Nadia-Anastasia Fahmi (asker) May 11, 2015:
Hi Peter, Because the discussion is about how abstemious the Athenians were in their meals.
Peter Close May 11, 2015:
Why not pastry or pie eaters? The Greeks eat a lot more pastry foods than leaves, and all Greek cheese pies, spinach pies, meat pies and many traditional Greek sweets are made from φύλλο ζύμης. Eating pastry foods, such as cheese pies and χορτόπιτες, has always considered to be an economical way of eating in Greece.

Αυτό ακριβώς καταλαβαίνω και εγώ. Χρησιμοποίησα την πρόταση της Λίνας. Ταιριάζει καλύτερα στο κείμενό μου. Και πάλι, ευχαριστώ πολύ.
