German term
tief liegen
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Engineering (general)
Context:
Senkschraube M 5x8 nach DIN 963 muß mit dem Kopf mindestens 0,3 mm tief liegen!
This seems a very basic question, but am I right in assuming that this means that the head has to be recessed by 0.3 mm instead of flush with the surface?
(Obviously, this has nothing to do with poetry & literature, cf. http://www.proz.com/kudoz/3135781 )

countersunk screw at a depth of .....
in other words, yes.
Note from asker:
The question is, which part of the screw has to be at the specified depth? Saying that a screw is at a depth of seems rather vague, but if the head of the screw needs to be a certain depth below the surface level, then the screw is recessed, isn't it? |
