agree Dr Andrew Read : Note that "fag" is still very common in the UK in this context, but has other connnotations in the US ;-) "Ciggie" is also still used in the UK but somehow is more likely to be used by a woman or older person..."Butt" is only the bit you leave at the end.

neutral Dr Andrew Read : Doesn't sound that good or usual to a UK English-speaker; it's quite rare to have "smoke" used as a noun to refer specifically to a cigarette; though it could refer to the act of smoking: "they're having a smoke outside".
