NB, this is quite different to a situation comedy (sit com) - it is the term describing comic effects.
And I didn't actually learn this WITH Molière, but when studying his comedies :)

: yes, I think this is the right term, 'situation comedy' being more usually reserved for the modern sitcom

Consider the possibility of leaving these phrases untranslated and glossing or defining (perhaps in parentheses) when necessary.
i.e. comique de situation (a comedy where the circumstances are the main source of humour) can be divided into comique de répétition (using repeated actions, words, and circumstances), quidproquo, etc.

: there's no need to leave them untranslated, since they have perfectly good standard translations. These terms exist in English and are used in English literature specifically in the study of comedy. Believe me, this was part of my Uni degree course
