Good practice would recommend that dog(s) should be carried in a vehicle where they are prevented from being thrown forward during braking or in a collision.

This would normally be achieved by the provision of a properly installed dog guard capable of withstanding the impact of a dog or by the installation of a cage secured within the vehicles load carrying area.
