One client - who would not dream of going over the due date - asked for a 10% reduction in rates, which I refused, and I hope other colleagues did. The client's rates are OK, but definitely not high in the first place. Translators still have to pay their bills too!

As I had only done a very small amount of work for them that month and 10% was negligible, I suggested giving them an extra month's credit, which they accepted.

As there are only two options allowed, I answered Yes, because one of my clients hasn't paid a couple of my bills from earlier this year, but it is a small company and they often pay late or "when they can". Their customary tardiness may have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 lockdown, but I don't really know. I should probably send them a reminder this week before July/August kicks in...

2 clients Jun 29, 2020

Two clients requested a delay. I'm more concerned about clients not sending work than clients who do sent work but taking longer to pay.

I’d like to see them try... Jun 29, 2020

It’s not really an option for clients who literally print their own money!

All my clients have been paying on time; one even paid a small invoice sooner than usual just before the lockdown.

The payments came in right on/even before the due date.

No issues at all Jun 29, 2020

.. and if anything, I had a client sending money before the due date to show their support!

Many used the argument to reduce the volume of jobs, some tried to reduce the rates (which didn't work, of course), but none delayed payments or used the COVID excuse to try that. Business online has not been affected. As a matter of fact, it has likely grown a bit.

15 days delay from one client Jun 29, 2020

Just one client asked to pay two weeks later than the usual 15 days agreement upon delivery. I accepted and received the funds only 10 days later after all.
Another asked me if I was willing to reduce my rate per word. I blacklisted him.

Grrrrr! Adverbial use of "due to". Grrrrr!

I don't owe any money to Covid-19 and I'm pretty sure none of my clients do either.
