Hosting a virtual powwow
One of the interesting effects of the virtually global lockdown has been the huge rise in people taking to their screens to remain in contact with others. With technology as it is today, we now take it for granted, whereas just a generation ago it would have been unthinkable to talk to one person via a phonescreen, let alone 20.
This is important for personal but also for professional reasons, and the new ProZ.com virtual powwows can provide a vital platform for staying in touch with colleagues.
In this session in the Freelancer Success Summit, Drew MacFadyen will walk you through the process, so that you'll be ready to hose your own powwow, on whatever theme you want, with colleagues from all four corners of the globe.
Remember: no registration required – just show up on the day!

Body scan meditation
Flor Montero returns with another session to help us balance body and mind in these trying times.
Neurosciences have taught us that proprioception exercises help to calm the nervous system while providing other health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure and muscle tensions we might not even be aware of having.
In this session we will explore the principle "where attention goes, energy flows" inside our own bodies with this meditation and its effects on our mental states.

Professional associations
In this session, Paula Ribeiro (right) explores the leading role that professional associations can and must play in a crisis period like this.
We advocate the increasing importance of the creation of professional bodies, offering specific and specialized training, mentoring programs, internship pools, and awareness-raising initiatives on the importance of our profession with business groups, which should contribute to strengthening the spirit of our industry.
Only as a strong and united group will we be able to overcome this challenge, and prepared to face all the new ones that will arise from this pandemic state of mind we now face!

Life After MA: Challenges and Successes"
Have you just finished your MA? Are you currently working in a highly resistant market to young talents? Then this session – led by Norhan Mohamed (below), a self-employed interpreter/translator – is for you. Norhan shares her professional journey after MA, some of the challenges she faced both personally and professionally when she moved back home, and how she conquered these challenges.
She will also talk about her personal business brand, Meraki, the idea behind it and how it is growing everyday.

First contacts with clients
In this session, presented by Ramsés Cabrera Olivares (right), we learn that success is a long road, but you have to start somewhere!
These difficult times are a specially useful opportunity. Connecting with clients for the first time might be quite challenging for new translators, and sometimes they feel disappointed when they do not obtain immediate results. We'll learn a few secrets Ramsés has learned as a freelance translator and agency owner throughout the years to form connections with your potential clients. Right now the world is in a deep crisis, and it needs our help to keep it afloat. Use this chance to initiate your road to success, and you'll be helping the world as well!

Spotlight training and video library
Don't forget that in the run-up to the Summit, and until the end of June, you can take advantage of a wide variety of online learning opportunities at ProZ.com and all for free.
As long as you are a registered member with a completed profile, you can dip in whenever you like to as many sessions and videos as you like.

One-minute tips
But for those who are too busy still (and remember that some companies have stepped up their communications), then there's always the ProZ.com YouTube channel with a number of one- minute videos and introductions to some of our training offer.
All accessible for free of course at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq-uq3OdWl-4oZB-njIzDfw

The key in difficult times is to be able to plan ahead, looking beyond the immediate crisis. The more you can use this time for learning and growth, the better placed you'll be for when the new chapter begins...
