Bruce, Lenny (Oct. 13, 1925 - Aug. 3, 1966), comedian, was born Leonard Alfred Schneider in Mineola, N.Y., on Long Island, the son of Myron Schneider, a podiatrist, and Sadie Kitchenburg, a nightclub and vaudeville entertainer. He was raised in Mineola and nearby Bellmore. His parents were divorced when he was five, and he was shuttled back and forth from one parent to the other. Bruce's stormy childhood remained part of nearly everything he undertook throughout his life. He quit high school in 1942 to enlist in the navy, where he remained until after World War II, serving most of his time on the USS Brooklyn during the Italian campaign.
In the late 1940's, Bruce began to frequent the lunch counter at Hanson's drugstore in New York City, famous in show-business circles as a gathering place for aspiring comedians and older, struggling ones. Here Bruce began to solidify his comedy act, learning much about delivery and timing from various people in the business. Perhaps even more important was his friendship with Joe Ancis, reputedly a richly comic talent who developed stage fright whenever he tried to perform in public. From Ancis, Bruce learned the techniques of improvisational comedy. Bruce's reputation grew to the point that he was able to win the top prize on the radio program "Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts" in 1948, after which he began working small nightclubs in the New York area. Realizing that he had not yet developed enough material to work consistently in major cabarets, Bruce worked what was called the "borscht circuit" of Catskill Mountains resorts. Project
New Territories will comprise an exhibition, which will focus on new directions in the visual arts from collaborative, to participatory and social engaged practice.
Within contemporary art, the need arises to have a greater dialogue with the viewer. This project proposes to involve people in an interactive way in a process of collaboration, exchange and participation.
The exhibition will encompass a provocative mix of experimental work, and it will involve; performance, video, sound and interactive/participatory art projects.
More than ever, we are not people of just one country. Identity is no longer made up of a single thread, but it is an ever-changing absorbing field, made up of different strands of influences experiences and backgrounds as well as origins. These artists’ output may be defined as work at the cutting edge of their own cultural and personal histories, remaining alert and aware of the cross-currents of change and experimentation occurring in the wider context of the contemporary art world.
This exhibition looks at the experiments in the visual arts that can only be understood in the context of a globally active – and consciously interactive - contemporary art scene without borders or boundaries.
Aims
Increase knowledge and understanding of contemporary art by ‘diasporic’ international artists from London, Lisbon, and Poland with special emphasis on introducing and engaging new and larger audiences.
Create opportunities for dialogue, collaboration and exchange of ideas and information about contemporary issues.

Born in Portugal, lives and works and in England.
Her work spans several media, sculpture, video, site-specific installation, and performance with a particular interest in interdisciplinary and collaboration through dialogue, interaction and exchange between artists, non-artists and the public at large.
Amado organised and curated The International Multi Media Symposium an event that took place in the Islands of the Azores involving 25 international artists, writers, musicians and poets focusing on the concept of Place and People with an intercultural and interdisciplinary approach.
Amado created Sands in Time, the first live-art video installation broadcast on the Internet. Images beamed to London from the Azores by satellite were fused with images of London and projected as part of an installation; a live video broadcast of the installation was live screened on the net.
She is the founder of BreadMatters a cultural platform of debate, exchange and exhibition which took place in Lublin, Poland, Lisbon and Ireland.

Luísa Menano
Born in Mozambique in 1966.
She went to live in Portugal when she was nine years old. She now lives and works in Winchester, UK.
Luísa has been exhibited widely not only in Portugal but internationally from Portugal, to the UK and throughout, Japan, México, Spain, United States, Turkey and Mauritius.
She has been exploring the subject of Memories, Childhood Memories, Displacement, Globalization, Diaspora and Decolonization. Although Portuguese Luisa still fells she has roots connected to Africa. She grew up along with all the consequences of that decolonization along with the emotional weight that the family brought from Mozambique. It is in relation to these subject matters that Luisa has been developing her art work. Her life experience and also her family, friends and other people similar experience it is in a whole what she is intending to register. Luísa was granted with the Youth Prize in Visual Arts, given by the Portuguese Institute for Youth – XII Biennale 03, Vila Nova de Cerveira. Projecto
Novos Territórios vai consistir numa exposição que se centrará nas novas direcções em que se movem as artes visuais, desde as práticas colaborativas às práticas participativas e de envolvimento social.
Está a nascer no seio da arte contemporânea a necessidade de estabelecer um maior diálogo com o espectador. Este projecto propõe-se a envolver interactivamente o público num processo de colaboração, de partilha e de participação.
A exposição irá incluir uma mescla provocatória de obras experimentais, e irá envolver performance, vídeo, som e projectos artísticos interactivos e/ou participativos.
Hoje, mais do que nunca, não somos cidadãos de um só país. A identidade já não é composta por um único fio, mas é antes um campo assimilador em constante mudança, feito de diferentes teias de influências, experiências, contextos e origens. A produção destes artistas pode ser definida como um trabalho na vanguarda das suas próprias histórias culturais e pessoais, mantendo-se atentos às e conscientes das correntes transversais de mudança e experimentação, em curso no contexto mais amplo do mundo da arte contemporânea.
Esta exposição contempla as experimentações nas artes visuais que podem apenas ser compreendidas no contexto de uma cena da arte contemporânea globalmente activa – e conscientemente interactiva – sem fronteiras ou limites.
Objectivos
Aumentar o conhecimento e a compreensão acerca da arte contemporânea criada por artistas “diaspóricos” internacionais de Londres, Lisboa e Polónia, com especial ênfase na apresentação e mobilização de novas e maiores audiências.
Criar oportunidades de diálogo, colaboração e partilha de ideias e informação acerca de questões contemporâneas.

Nasceu em Portugal, vive e trabalha em Inglaterra.
A sua obra abarca diversos media, tais como escultura, vídeo, instalações site-specific e performance, com um interesse particular na interdisciplinaridade e colaboração através do diálogo, e na interacção e partilha entre artistas, não-artistas e o público de forma geral.

Luisa Menano
Nasceu em Moçambique em 1966.
Foi viver para Portugal aos nove anos de idade. Hoje, vive e trabalha em Winchester, no Reino Unido.
A obra de Luísa tem sido amplamente exposta não apenas em Portugal mas também internacionalmente, de Portugal a todo o Reino Unido, ao Japão, México, Espanha, Estados Unidos, Turquia e Maurícia.
Tem vindo a explorar a temática das Memórias, Memórias da Infância, Deslocamento, Globalização, Diáspora e Descolonização. Apesar de ser Portuguesa, Luísa sente que as suas raízes estão ligadas a África. Cresceu com as consequências da descolonização e com a bagagem emocional que a família trouxe de Moçambique. Estas, têm sido as temáticas à volta das quais Luísa tem vindo a desenvolver a sua obra artística. É a sua experiência de vida, juntamente com as experiências semelhantes vividas pela sua família, amigos e outras pessoas, que constituem, num todo, o que Luísa pretende registar. O Instituto Português da Juventude concedeu-lhe o Prémio Jovem I.P.J. para as Artes Visuais, por ocasião da XII Bienal de Vila Nova de Cerveira, em 2003. 2.2 Receipt and Use of Funds
2.2.1 <> will use the grants, any interest earned, any exchange rate gains and acquired assets for the designated purposes specified in the project proposal to <>. <> will be responsible to <> for the use of funds by any third party to whom they transfer funds as if <> were themselves using the funds.

2.2 Recepção e Utilização dos Fundos
